the KIDS act is heading to a house vote this week. it affects everyone online, not just kids.
the bill āclaimsā it doesnāt require age verification. but it keeps applying restrictions whenever a platform āknows or should have knownā a user is a minor, and you canāt know that without checking everyone. so everyone gets checked. licenses, passports, facial scans. the disclaimer is a fig leaf.
who gets hurt? the trans teenager trying to understand their own body. the kid in an abusive home trying to get help without their parents finding out. anyone in a state with an abortion ban. anyone who needs anonymity to be safe. the āharmful contentā categories are vague enough for any hostile AG to aim at whatever they want. in texas that means queer content. reproductive health. harm reduction spaces. im not trying to be scary, its just how it works and, chances are, how its gonna go.
disappearing messages are a privacy feature, through and through. the bill pressures platforms to restrict them without ever explaining how you address harms inside encrypted conversations you canāt read. draw your own conclusions.
they bundled this with fentanyl bills and a law named after a dead teenager so voting no becomes an attack ad. nobody wants to be the āBully McPunchPuppiesAndBabiesā, and to make matters worse, the act is being fast tracked under a process that skips amendments. you get all of it or none of it.
the senators who wrote the original version of this bill hate what the house did to it. the senate is where this dies. contact yours.
EFF Breakdown:
Buried inside the KIDS Act are provisions that will push online services to verify all usersā ages, require government-directed moderation p
Contact Congress:
Congress is preparing to vote on the KIDS Act, a sweeping internet bill that would pressure websites and apps to determine usersā ages befor

Hey, i was wondering how you learned how to make edits? like the actual like, figuring out where to put the clips and everything? it just feels like editors are in tune with the music in some way i'm not cause no matter what i mark out or method i use, it ends up janky.
Hi, thank you for asking!!! I learned years ago through many tutorials. Some of my first edits also have that weird timing issue, so donāt worry. Most of the time for my transition edits, I use pre split audios made for edits. They mark the beat for you. Some accounts I like are cemeteryaudios (instagram) and eggaudios (TikTok).
As for how to do this yourself, there are a few ways. Videostar is an app I sometimes use for marking the beats/making my own pre split audio. Once you import your audio, thereās an option for āsplit sceneā. They have an automatic beat marker or you could do it yourself. On after effects, my main editing program, I import my audio and then convert the audio to keyframes. I go into the graph editor and see where the peaks and troughs are. I mark usually at the peaks since thatās usually the drums. Of course you still gotta listen to the audio to see where. This method also works for any program that shows the audio waves.
It varies from audio to audio, really. You can also cut at the lyrics or use a mix of the beat and lyrics for a different type of flow. Hopefully this all makes sense and helps a little. It takes a lot of practice and listening. There are also tutorials on YouTube so check those out too if you want.
