it was really interesting to find a way for frank to engage with the very different world of sXe that felt authentic to his relationship with his band in the weeks before mcr's conception. the way i ended up doing that was by intertwining his feelings about pencey prep and its ultimate demise (a lot of those details were true to life, happy to provide sources) with his growing crisis of faith in a set of ideals that had guided his life for years. it's a coming of age story at its core. part of that is reckoning with the fact that life isn't black or white. sXe is a very black and white ideology. so it was a fun sandbox to play around in :)
