Do you have a magic rock powered cart? How often do you need to pay the magic rock sellers, each week, to power your cart? And you dont get to reuse the magic rocks do you? You burn those rocks to power your cart, or your cottage, and those magic rocks are gone forever. You need to buy new magic rocks constantly to power your cart and home.
Once the magic rock is burnt, we need another, and another, and another. And each time you gotta buy the magic rocks from the dwarves in that mountain far away in another land, and they can charge however much gold they want.
But if we set up this magic ritual to harvest the sun's energy, then the energy is there, mostly for free, forever. It takes just as long to build the ritual as it does to negotiate with those dwarves, and transport all those magic rocks everywhere. And maybe the ritual itself costs just as much as burning the magic rocks did. But you only need to do the ritual once every 25 years, instead of everyday. And wizards are finding cheaper and easier ways to do the ritual everyday, the sun ritual will only get cheaper. Magic rocks will only get more expensive as the mines empty.
Suns right there. Always. We dont have to rely on foreign dwarven powers for our energy. We'll have energy security for our kingdom. And it will be cheap and reuseable, because it lasts a long time, and when the ritual wears out, all the components can be reused to make more rituals.
Longevity, durability, economy, security. Thats why we should fuck off the magic rocks.
