In the persertmis au, how would they be mythologized? Would it be favourite campanion, lieutenant of the hunters, her lover, just her best friend or maybe all of them depending on the city-state?
i feel like it would be very location and time based, at least in written sources since they were mainly written by men who didnt want women to get any ideas, but their bond is very often referenced in romantic context, in an achilles/patroclus kind of way
(also, some people got confused, and there was a kind of short lived cult that shipped selene and perse. i do not think i need to disclose the reason of its short life)
their temples are also often placed close to one another, and usually there's at least one depiction or sculpture of the other in their temples, with a couple of exceptions here and there (eg, perse's temple in athens, bc even if athena gets over it she would NOT stand to have artemis' likeness in her baby owl's first and main temple after she "perverted" her)
it also helps that sappho wrote a lot about them in an "where can i find me a girlfriend like that" sort of way. homer also wrote that, despite Apollo’s attempts, the athenide always preferred artemis' company over her brother’s. Artemis has been rubbing that on his face ever since it came out, while apollo sulkily considers smiting the dude
romans also didn't like the warrior goddess that defeated their mars ultor just a few months after being born, and her overall themes. depending on whether she had faded already or not she is a) completely ignored, b) bastardized, c)given the neptune treatment (vaguely respected but very neglected)
the renaissance would be a more complicated topic, we complain a lot about romans but the renaissance's characterization of artemis is vile. in a universe where artemis alredy has a plausible (and sometimes directly referred to as) lover, i think christianity would be just fucked up enough to use them to paint more risqué scenes without angering the vatican since they're both eternal virgins, or they would paint artemis as toxicly possessive for 'not letting her best friend get it on with her brother, which she clearly wants'. artemis hates the renaissance. she appreciates the comeback of style and writings but she does NOT like it
they also paint apollo with perse a lot a lot and apollo rubs it on her face just as much as she did homer's writings
in modern day, there would be a bunch of crusty men in denial about them being lovers, and preferring the renaissance's version. the internet takes one look at them and is like no FUCKING way, and they become one of the most referenced ppl when talking about "oh no they were just friends". there are also many retellings of their story and yk booktok (specially in 2020-22) would eat that shit UP. art students are also in love with them bc the moon+the stars is such an easy dynamic to make both in symbolism or in just actually painting them and also THEYRE GAY. there'd be a lot of symbolic ties between sapphic love and the moon and the stars because of them, and i could see it getting used in shows like adventure time to hint at what they're not allowed to put on the tv (eg, pb wearing a moon charm of some kind and marceline having some stitched stars on her jacket, and people looking like crazy theorists when they notice)
i think tumblr would've made wearing star and moon jewelry and stuff like that a bit of a "do you listen to girl in red?"
they are also the only example of a lesbian relationship in... from what i know, any ancient religion, which would have philologists ripping their hair out bc more often than not, religions bounce from one another (aphrodite being imported from mesopotamia i think, apollo unknown origin but also imported, etc) so i imagine finding these kind of big differences tends to be kinda big
as small as the ao3 fandom tag of greek mythology is, there would be a few in there written about them, as well as a bunch written under the fandom tag of a similar rewriting to song of Achilles. i fell like madeline miller would've written about them

Literally so many problems with the PJO show could have been solved if it was a cartoon.
Terrible cgi? Animate it, then it's uniform across the board
Grey, bland "realistic" sets? Animate it, then the Underworld can be as colorful as Wonderland
Actors aging past their characters? Animate it
The "best fitting" actor not looking like their character? Animate it
Percy's sarcastic wit in his narration not translating to screen? Animate some thought bubbles or blurbs, or give him a little chibi like Lizzie McGuire (iykyk)
Stiff fight scenes because they're child actors limited by bad choreography? Hire the team from ATLA or KDH
Lacking diversity in the color grading between the mortal realm and the fantastical mythical realms? Animate it and exaggerate those features
PJO is middle-grade fiction built on wacky mythological monsters, campy puns and humor, whimsy, and some pretty cool battles.
Literally handed to the ideal hypothetical animation team on a silver platter.

apollo is very offended in the sibling way of "I SAW HER FIRST" and artemis is very "I DONT GIVE A FUCK SHE'S THE ONLY ONE I'VE EVER WANTED, STEP ASIDE" and they have a bit of a competition, but Apollo’s attempts are kind of fruitless bc perse doesnt like cocky, arrogant men, but she might just appreciate an overconfident woman with an appreciation for mortals and fellow women
(tldr, i believe if percy is to be a woman, she'd be incredibly lesbian about it all, especially for taller, charming and sort of muscular women)
What if everyone thought Perse faded, but in actuality, she travelled back into the future, which is awfully similar to fading.

i mean, yeah! perse is the same kid who lived through all the percy jackson books, and then lived through the athenide's life, faded, and then came right back to where she left. she had to endure all of the prejudice that came with looking so much like the athenide just to find out that she's the athenide, that all of the wonderful things people said about this goddess, they were saying about her
i love thinking of perse when she gets her memories back bc it's just so wonderful to see the reunions.
in the pertemis ver, my hc is that perse told artemis some odd phrase for her to remember "when she came back". artemis is very confused abt wtf she means but remembers it nontheless.
and right after the giant war ends, perse tells her those exact same words, and right as shes trying to process perse tells her "if you dont come down right now and kiss me i fear i might actually permanently fade"
and there's no one as fucking dramatic and wonderful and with those looks and tone that wpuld say that but her lover
so artemis does as one does and goes down to mortal height and kisses the shit out of her, full making perse lean down with perse kicking her leg out and shit
athena fucking loses her mind, hugs her like she might just slip out at any given moment and perse reminds her she's not her only daughter here, and athena just hugs both her perse and her annabeth bc what the fuck her baby is here and she's with her other baby and they so fucking wonderful-

the fact that as a mortal he still has a limited amount he can consume without dying vs
the idea of his hunger getting bigger and bigger until the amount he has to consume not to feel the effects of starvation is genuinely dangerous even for him
Idk I just like the idea that you can only get so close to divinity bf it becomes a bad thing and it starts clashing with your mortality. If your power is on the same level as a god (points at the akhlys scene) then maybe you should start to consider whether your mortal body can stand it without consequences.
