I might be over this book.... sometime this year. Maybe.

Happy (almost) Pi(e) day! To celebrate I decided to finally take on attempting Iwan's grandfather's lemon pie from The Seven Year Slip. This book still has such a hold on me, and I wanted to honor this beautiful story with a pie.

After much debating and rereading the chapter where Iwan first makes this for Clementine, I decided to go with the method of essentially making a key lime pie with lemon juice and zest instead of lime, and then topping it with a lemon whipped cream.

Taking another bite, the sweetness of the cream dancing with the tart lemon, making my teeth curl in delight, I said, "Ah, you're talking about a perfect meal again."

"It all comes full circle," he replied, the edges of his mouth twisting up in a smile. "Universal truths in butter. Secrets folded into the dough. Poetry in the spices. Romance in a chocolate. Love in a lemon pie."
