I vividly remember watching this cutscene for the first time on my PlayStation. It filled me with fear, wonder, and awe.The cinematic approach of a vengeful cyborg ninja slaughtering a hallway of mercenaries to get to his objective, literally transformed the way I say video games and though I couldn’t articulate it at the time it was the first best example of visual storytelling through a video game I had ever seen. Follow that up with the fourth-wall breaking Psycho Mantis boss fight, the harrowing moral decision after Meryl gets shot by Sniper Wolf, and ultimately the conclusion of Grey Fox’s story arc and it’s no wonder this is one of my all time favorite games (and led to a tattoo...and maybe another).
