I cannot rest tonight. My mind is too busy weaving daydreams and my heart too busy dancing with the shadows on the wall.

Country music is home to me...in the dead of summer, cruising down a backroad. I can feel the hot air pushing back against my arm as I reach for the sky outside my window. I am no age and every age of my youth in this memory. Everything passing by too quickly, even the rear view mirror a blur...but it's all in the rear view now, isn't it? I close my eyes and put my hands in the air, I can almost feel the sun on my skin again. Almost...let the music play. I'm almost home....almost.

There is wonder in knowing and knowing in wonder. My thoughts once flowing, now victim to plunder. Stand guard.

I no longer expect anything. I no longer wonder. I just am. And you are. 

Is it just me, or is the silence really loud tonight?

I just want to be happy. When I see myself happy, I do picture myself with him. It feels good; I am at peace in these daydreams. But I’m not broken anymore. It doesn’t hurt to think of what we’ve become and what may never be. I’ve found my way out, I just haven’t quite found a way to close the door. I close my eyes and daydream-it’s there I become stronger every day. One day I may close my eyes and see nothing, let go of my hold, and walk away. You see, in a daydream I am safe. I understand what I want is not what is. It’s simply enough to feed my fix. The danger is reality. In reality, I have no self control. And should I see him coming, I might never close the door…even though I know he never really wants to come inside.

You know those moments when you begin to wish you were somewhere else? And anywhere will do, just so long as it's not where you are... I'm having a moment.

It may take a little longer to get there, but I believe a dream is best chased down the scenic route…just sayin<3
