It’s not about the money. It never really was. And it’s not the applause either—not the praise, not the admiration, not some grand acknowledgment. I’ve never needed the spotlight. That kind of validation fades fast, like a passing breeze. What I ache for is much simpler, much quieter.

Just one moment. One hug. One soft whisper that says, “You still matter to me.”

That’s it. That’s what my heart waits for, even if I don’t say it out loud. Even if I act like everything is fine.

Because the truth is, sometimes being a father means pouring everything out—your time, your energy, your patience, your love—and never really knowing if it all landed. We give and give, not for thanks, but out of love. Still, there are days when I wonder... do they remember? Do they see me? Do I still matter?

I don’t need a parade. I don’t need anyone to shout my name from the rooftops. But I do need to feel seen once in a while. I need to know my presence still means something. That who I am—not just what I’ve done—still holds weight in the hearts of those I love.

Sometimes, my heart just needs to hear the words. Words that remind me my love hasn’t been forgotten. That I’m not just a shadow in the background, but still a part of the story.
