“My point is not that women should get back into the kitchen: it is that we all should, and into the other rooms of the home too. Machine modernity prised the men away from the home first, as the Industrial Revolution broke their cottage industries and swept them into the factories and mines, where their brute strength could be useful to the Machine. Later the women, who had been mostly left to tend the home single-handedly, were subject to the same ‘liberation’, which was sold to them as a blow struck against inequality. Perhaps it was, but it was also a blow struck against the home, for both sexes.”
— Paul Kingsnorth: Against the Machine
There are a number of athletes that I care about, but the only one who I get really parasocial about is matvei michkov. He has me thinking insane thoughts like "I hope he knows people are proud of him." And "I wish I could tell him it's all going to be okay in the end." I can't help it this is just how I feel
I'm sorry WHAT starring WHO???????
ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT MICKEY AND MINNIE ARE THE FIRST BOOK ACCURATE JONMINA IN AN ADAPTATION
ALSO WHY IS THE NEW COPY $250???????
WHAT IS HAPPENING
welcome to disney comics
oh ive read that one its great,
also hey new person we hope to accommodate you in this little fandom of ours, here, have an unrelated link thats definetly not the comic plus the other adaptations of classic literature they made: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10yn5cpJOCMxTIXzwSLeARRKFF1qWkvI_?usp=drive_link i do have to say, hamlet and moby dick are my favourites in this collection <3
HEY THAT'S MY LINK WHAT KJJKKKK so nice seeing people using it! I'll update it more often, then.
Anyway, you definitely won't find those we're mentioning to read here. I recommend Frankenstein, too. It's a bit silly but wonderfully drawn.
But my personal favorite is the one from I TL 3070-1P, that frustratedpker did an amazing job with the scan/translation. It's a must read.
oh yea i love frankensteins artstyle sooo much too! pretty sure its the same as moby dick but im not sure
Yep, all made by the amazing Fabio Celoni!

waaaay back when I was a cashier in retail we would talk about dumb shit while unloading the truck, and we got to the "what would you do in a zombie apocalypse" me and another worker were like yeah we would just die. End it all, we can't fight or run or shit. I refuse to put that much effort into survival.
And my manager was like no!!!! If that happened, I would drive to find you guys in my truck and we could eat stuff from my wife's garden and I would make sure everyone I know survived!! I would carry you all on my shoulders away from the zombies!!
Anyway, random shout out to that guy. You were too kind for retail management, Devin.
also afterwards everyone who was talking about their cool bunker fantasies were like "Damn, Devin's right, we should also be considering helping people around us." which is the only recorded instance of a retail shift making people better human beings.
That’s exactly why I don’t like most zombie apocalypse stories (or most other post apocalypse stories). They always fall into the trap of Everyone Being Awful.
The idea that societal collapse exposes mankind’s true nature ignores one thing: society IS mankind. We make it, just by being around each other. Social mores and customs aren’t arbitrary rules inflicted on us by some unseen force, they’re our own behaviors and views. We say please and thank you because we want to be kind. We establish charities because we want to help others. We set up garbage cans because we want to be clean. We’re the ones setting the standards and frowning at the people who don’t rise to meet them. We’re the ones who are appalled by the cruelties in our history.
Yes, we’re capable of truly awful things, but we’re also capable of remarkable kindness. We’re capable of more goodness than we give ourselves credit for.
THANK YOU
The problem with nearly every post-apocalypse story is that they take the worst behavior of people during a riot or a natural disaster, extrapolate it to all of humanity, and assume that situation never changes. But even the worst disasters end. Hurricane Katrina looters aren't still looting. And there were far more people helping than looting.
I'm so tired of this assumption that the worst of humanity is "realistic" while the best is cartoonish or childish. Every single time there's a disaster, or a crisis, you see people helping and people risking their lives for others. Hell, we've even had societal collapses before and we've rebuilt civilization every time. The real childishness is assuming all people are, at heart, selfish and uncaring. Because that's how bitter teenagers who have never experienced the world view it.

Something that's been on my mind for a while now that I haven't seen anyone talk about is how by letting Reese give in to his anger, he immediately becomes a worse person. I want to preface this by saying I understand wanting to hurt someone who has hurt you, especially for so long in such a way that he was hurt, and I do not blame him for wanting that or even fantasizing about it. But by letting him go through with it he seems to develop this kind of vigilante mindset about anyone he deems a threat, and this is amplified especially if the player character is romancing him, what with him running off to kill Tabitha even if the MC tells him not to (which is getting into something I will get into in a moment). Allowing yourself to simply give in to your worst instincts and hurt people will, and with him does, make it easier to hurt people. Violence becomes more and more of a viable option as reacting with violence has now gone unpunished, or even been encouraged. He is drunk on his newfound power and ability to fight back, and by killing his mother and finally being free, whether he knows it or not, violence has been enforced as a valid way to protect himself, or to get what he wants. I do not think I need to explain why this would make one a worse person. This is also a completely unsustainable way of existing, as violence like this is most often punished in the long run and will likely land you in a much worse off position. Though, considering he is a cisgender white man, he might be let off the hook (which is enraging for several reasons that I also do not think I need to get into, but especially from my own experiences). I will state as a side note, that I do not think his alternatives of being locked away or killed are good, as no one deserves being locked up in a room like that and it's tragic for him to die the way he does, but the person he becomes in a matricide/obedience route is going down a disgusting road that I have a few more thoughts on regarding things other than violence.
So, due to all this, he believes he is in the right constantly now. This especially applies to the level of control and possessiveness he demonstrates towards a player character romancing him. This part gets into how I absolutely do not understand the desire to romance this character, but I am aware that I am biased in ways I don't think I need to disclose, exactly. I do think my reasoning stands as character analysis, which is why I am even including this section, not to mention the fact that I am allowed to talk about these things if I want to anyway. As soon as he transforms he attempts to take away the player character's agency. This, personally, is where I start to dislike him (not as a character, but as a person. He is very well written and compelling but if I had to deal with him, at this point I would kick his teeth in). To me this is where he starts to read something like a sad boy who becomes controlling and abusive as soon as you have let him in. To him now, it's his responsibility to "protect" the MC, whether or not they want him to. In his eyes, he knows best, and the MC doesn't, and he's going to do what he thinks is right for their own good. They'll come around eventually, and even if they don't, it's for the best. This is where he stops really being able to listen to anything the MC says. Obviously this can be cut short by the other endings to episode 4, but we're talking about world states where he kills Dr Kelly and goes free. The next time an MC romancing him sees him, he is deeply misguided on how to handle himself around them. He wants very badly to be helpful, which would be sweet if it weren't for the fact that if the MC confides in him, he takes action in a way that strips the MC of their agency in a situation where they should be the one choosing what happens. And then there's the kiss. I (or we) haven't played the section where he kisses the MC when they tell him not to, but I have heard of it, and it ties back into what I've been saying about how he immediately becomes worse after a matricide/obedience ending to episode 4, as well as the aforementioned 'sad boy turns out to be abusive' from above. There is no way to know how he will be in the final two episodes, but I do not think he will be better. He has already proven that now he cannot listen.
To be clear, I do not think Reese is a bad person, but he's taken steps down a road that ends horribly, and I myself haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, so I thought I might as well do it myself as talking about all aspects of a character feels important to me. Especially when it can be read as something like how I read him. Again, I am informed by my own experiences and biases, but that's part of how character analysis works anyway. Parts of his character irritate me as they highlight certain behaviors that are waved away or treated as endearing when an apparently attractive (I am ace I really wouldn't know) white boy is doing them. This is not the fault of the character as his story could absolutely be seen as an exploration of that, which I like to think it is, but that is my interpretation.

Connor bedard, arm in a sling recovering from a surgery, milling aimlessly around his apartment, gets a knock at the door. He opens it and matvei michkov is there along with at least 7 other flyers. "With me now" matvei says befire he grabs connor by the waist and shoves him into the burlap sack travis sanheim is holding. Connor bedard wakes up in philadelphia wearing a 98 flyers jersey and he is given nut awear pizza for the first time and he takes a bite and cries. He hangs out in the super awesome injured reserve arcade that tyson foerster built when he was on the ir and when connors all better in November he gets to play on a line with owen tippett and porter martone and he scores goal after goal and he gets to the playoffs for the first time and then they make the Stanley cup where they terminate the Colorado avalanche and bedsy is smiling and grinning and his shoulders dont bother him anymore as he lifts the cup with his teammates and friends
I just know Pat Verbeek lets out a deep sigh and a “not this asshole again” everytime he sees Danny Briere on the caller ID.
Out here loving the world and everything in it 😌
Charlie O'Connor's video of Flyers fans cheering after their Game 4 loss from this tweet (5/9/26) -- I want the video on my blog forever or until this stupid website collapses.
I wish I could bottle the feeling of being in the arena while this was happening because it hit me harder than anything I've ever experienced as a hockey fan to date.

There’s been death in the flyersblr family, and I don’t know how we’ll ever get over it?
