Matematica e dintorni...

Una scuola in punto di morte! E io mi sento sola e in lutto, ma con lo strazio di chi non può piangere sul morto, di chi non può seppellire il morto ed elaborare il dolore

The wind passing over a field of grain, sets up a wave which spreads out across the whole field. Here again we must distinguish between the motion of the wave and the motion of separate plants, which undergo only small oscillations…....The essentially new thing here is that for the first time we consider the motion of something which is not matter, but energy propagating through matter.

Pure mathematics is the world's best game. It is more absorbing than chess, more of a gamble than poker, and lasts longer than Monopoly. It's free. It can be played anywhere - Archimedes did it in a bathtub.

I like mathematics because it is not human and has nothing particular to do with this planet or with the whole accidental universe - because like Spinoza's God, it won't love us in return.

If people do not believe that mathematics is simple, it is only because they do not realize how complicated life is.

Learning is experience. Everything else is just information.

I am no friend of probability theory, I have hated it from the first moment when our dear friend Max Born gave it birth. For it could be seen how easy and simple it made everything, in principle, everything ironed and the true problems concealed. Everybody must jump on the bandwagon [Ausweg]. And actually not a year passed before it became an official credo, and it still is.
