Lao Décheannach: le Laura Gilpin
AmĂĄrach, nuair a thiocfaidh na gasĂșir
ar an lao ar leith seo,
ClĂșdĂłidh siad a chorp le pĂĄipĂ©ar nuachta
agus iomprĂłfar Ă© go dtĂ an mĂșsaem.
Ach anocht tå sé beo
sa gharraĂ thuaidh lena mhĂĄthair.
Is trĂĄthnĂłna foirfe samhraidh Ă©:
an ghealach ag Ă©irĂ thar an Ășllord,
an ghaoth san fhéar.
Agus é ag stånadh ar an spéir
TĂĄ dhĂĄ oiread nĂos mĂł rĂ©altaĂ nĂĄ mar is gnĂĄch.
Two-Headed Calf
Tomorrow, when the farm boys
find this freak of nature,
they will wrap his body in newspaper
and carry him to the museum.
But tonight he is alive
and in the North field with his mother.
It is a perfect summer evening:
the moon rising over the orchard,
the wind in the grass.
And as he stares into the sky,
there are twice as many stars as usual.
Translation to Irish by me :)
