Rare languages
I have been labeling my Dangme posts as #rare language without thinking about it much.
In grand scale it is rare, as in people outside Ghana have hardly heard about. But then again it has about 1 020 000 speakers so is it really that rare?
So what is your definition for a rare language? Not found in most language apps? Can't find a book about it in the library? Never heard of it so must be rare? (Comment)
And let's see if I can find more people who have studied languages with only few speakers:
Number of speakers of the language I study currently
100 million
1 million - 100 million (getting more interesting)
100 000 - 1 million (language geek?)
10 000 - 100 000 (seriously, this is rare in all defintions)
1 000 - 10 000 (you are on a noble quest)
1 000 or less (you need to leave comment, seriously)
not learnig languages / show me the damn results
