Puerto Viejo, Limon - Costa Rica About a year ago I was in Puerto Viejo, a town on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, where the vegetation grows luxuriantly due to the climate characterized by frequent rains and high temperatures. The beaches are mostly with yellow sand and not very wide. Here I was on the beach in the city center and on the left begins Playa Negra so called for the color of its sand. The remains of a boat have become part of the landscape so much that Nature has colonized it with a small tree, which shows us that in the end she is the mistress and we are just guests... Hace aproximadamente un año estuve en Puerto Viejo, un pueblo de la costa caribeña de Costa Rica, donde la vegetación crece exuberante debido al clima caracterizado por lluvias frecuentes y altas temperaturas. Las playas son en su mayoría de arena amarilla y no muy anchas. Aquí estaba yo en la playa en el centro de la ciudad y a la izquierda comienza Playa Negra así llamada por el color de su arena. Ostia Antica, Rome - Italy The ancient city of Ostia owes its existence to the proximity of the Tiber and the sea. Once the course of the river was different from the current one and ran along the north side of the town, while now it only touches a short stretch to the west. Even the sea, in ancient times, was closer than today. According to tradition, the king of Rome Anco Marzio founded Ostia around 620 BC to exploit the salt flats at the mouth of the Tiber. Laguna de Leche, Morón - Cuba The Laguna de Leche is the largest natural fresh water lake in Cuba, has a total surface of 67.2 square kilometres and it is located in the northern Ciego de Ávila Province, near Morón. From maps you can see the white color caused by the lake's limestone bed which releases lime due to natural processes. A channel built in 1940 (Chicola Channel) connected the lake to the Bay of Buena Vista, allowing for the sugar processed in Morón to reach the small port of Chicola. During that the lake was contaminated with sea water, and it lost its characteristic white color. The channel was closed in 1988, and the milky color is gradually recovering. When I was there, the white color was not visible because of the light.. but it's really a nice place to go! La Laguna de Leche es el lago natural de agua dulce más grande de Cuba, tiene una superficie total de 67,2 kilómetros cuadrados y se encuentra en el norte de la provincia de Ciego de Ávila, cerca de Morón. En los mapas se puede ver el color blanco causado por el lecho de piedra caliza del lago que libera cal debido a procesos naturales. Un canal construido en 1940 (Canal Chicola) conectaba el lago con la Bahía de Buena Vista, permitiendo que el azúcar procesado en Morón llegara al pequeño puerto de Chicola. Durante ese tiempo, el lago se contaminó con agua de mar y perdió su característico color blanco. El canal se cerró en 1988 y el color lechoso se está recuperando gradualmente. Playa Santa Lucia, Camagüey - Cuba I went to this lake because I saw it on google maps and I found it particular for his colors, but when I was there it had a different color from what I expected, but it was still nice. There was a strange foam due to the algae decomposition, it was fun because it seemed like bath foam but it wasn't. It was really soft and light, and gives a particular atmosphere. Fui a este lago porque lo vi en google maps y lo encontré particular por sus colores, pero cuando estuve allí tenía un color diferente al que esperaba, pero aun así estaba lindo. Había una espuma extraña por la descomposición de las algas, fue divertido porque parecía espuma de baño pero no lo era. Torre Astura, Nettuno - Italy Looking out the arch of the bridge that connect the Torre Astura castle with the beach, I saw that amazing view, the Circeo mount, that you can se from far from all the south Rome beaches... It was hard to get there because the sand was so hot and we were without flip-flops, but the panorama paid off fot the pain. Al mirar el arco del puente que conecta el castillo de Torre Astura con la playa, vi esa increíble vista, el monte Circeo, que se puede ver desde muy lejos de todas las playas del sur de Roma...
