How long has it been?

"Tutorial" on how to "draw" a blind OC.
My kofi
Boring tired disclaimer: Keep in mind that this is an introductory "drawing" "tutorial" and has some generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. Which happens to be true for everything in general. Links below so that you can research and do a nuance. Ones that were directly mentioned are bolded.

Possibly the least accurate thing in the whole ENTIRE FUCKING EPISODE is how Mike’s trauma memory when Joyce is killing Vecna is not of Will being exorcized in season 2
Or of Will going missing, or Mike seeing his body dragged out of the river
Or of Mike nearly jumping off the fucking cliff
Or of his parents nearly getting killed in front of his face
Or of the rain fight or of rink o mania or of the I love you scene. NONE of that shit.
Not even IN ADDITION to El disappearing
THATS the sole memory they chose for him. Fuck them. I’m gonna be sick
It really fucking annoys me that the Suffer Brothers clearly didn't want to acknowledge Mike's trauma.
Obviously Mike hasn't been trapped in the Upside Down like Will has, or had his childhood taken away by being raised in a lab like El. But that doesn't mean he hasn't suffered.
He lives in an emotionally cold household where nobody cares enough about eachother, which may sound like something minimal, but as someone who was raised in a situation like that, it really fucks you up mentally.
His best friend was kidnapped at the age of 12 and subsequently possessed by an evil entity. Mike probably blames himself so much for not only what Will went through, but also what everyone he loves went through as a result, thinking that if only he would've made him stay over, then maybe this wouldn't be happening.
He jumped off of a cliff with basically no hesitation. What was it, two times that Troy asked him to? Then he just fucking did. What the fuck, how can you see that as someone just being 'loyal' to his friend (it is a factor, but it's not the MAIN reason). Especially when it's the same goddamn quarry his best friend of over half of his life's dead body was JUST pulled out of a short while before. What.
Or the amount of times he has faced down with evil interdimensional entities, especially in times when he was moments away from death, such as the Mind Flayer showdown and the literal scene with the Demogorgon in Ep4 THIS SEASON. I would imagine that almost dying several times probably also doesn't make you feel too great.
And also the people he loves almost dying or going missing more times than you can count on two hands? Will, El, the rest of his friends, his family... Even seeing Karen in the hospital would've made more sense to be the flashback memory.
And this doesn't even cover the emotional toll of being a teenager, especially one who is likely closeted. The fact that he can't say 'I love you' to El or love her in the way that she deserves, the fact that he's treated Will badly too as a way to deflect from his own panic with his identity, being told that he has to conform to a certain archetype and that archetype is to be an emotionless figure.
In my opinion, they should've used the combined forces of Will's body being pulled out of the Quarry and the Quarry jump, just to fully get it across.
Mike has so much trauma that could've been used instead of just relegating him to 'El's boyfriend'.
The Duffers— alongside half of the audience— just couldn't see said trauma, because Mike goes through every day repressing his emotions, so you can't just immediately see everything he struggles with. That's who he is as a person, and it makes sense as to why.
Mike Wheeler, I'm sorry your own creators could not know you as well as your defenders do.
portraits of utility poles
My autistic child got so excited upon seeing someone else portraying their special interest. What great art.
Behold: every utility pole from our house to their school.
Stop saying “there are plenty of fish in the sea”. I’ve got my eye on one specific, emotionally distant salmon with commitment issues
I'm personally after the white whale that took my leg
Wouldn’t leave my mind sorry

Honestly it pisses me off so much that people keep altering the Holmes/Watson dynamic when making comedic adaptations bc they think that the only way to make them funny is for Watson to be really stupid, or for Holmes to be an asshole to him, or for Watson to be constantly chasing after women, etc. Because their actual, original, canonical dynamic is SO RICH with comedic potential!
"A total weirdo and his nice, polite, normal friend who is secretly just as fucking weird as the first guy" is a hilarious dynamic. "Awkward autistic genius who makes everyone uncomfortable and his well-adjusted companion who acts as his normal people translator" is hilarious. "Two guys who are so codependent that they're constantly doing bits and making up inside jokes and everyone else is sick of it" is hilarious. "Extremely self-destructive guy plus the person who's constantly holding him back from running into danger except sometimes their roles completely reverse for a bit as they fight over who gets to take a bullet for the other one" is hilarious. They're so fucking crazy i love them

My unhealthy obsession with enjoying works that were created to physically hurt me all began with Titanic. What about you?
Standard sword and sorcery fantasy film periodically interrupted by cutaways to an in-universe historian from a notional period hundreds of years after the depicted events explaining the film's various historical inaccuracies. There's a recurring tangent about how the film's protagonist is a conflation of three different guys, all of them much weirder than the end product of that conflation.
At one point the historian remarks that the film's principal villain probably never existed, but you can tell from their thousand-yard stare that there's some Poe's Orangutan level discourse about that topic.

You know technology literacy is dying because I saw this meme with 76k likes
F11 the full screen button? You’re scared of the full screen button? F10?? It opens the menu bar???
Computers are so scary what if I accidentally hit F12 in a steam game and it takes a screenshot. What if I press shift + F12 while in word and accidentally save my document 😖
If you had to learn what the F keys on your computer do through me reblogging this post, then I'm glad you did. Computer literacy is not a skill that gets taught anymore, and it is absolutely one that needs to be taught in order to be learned. Don't ever feel bad for not knowing something, but ☝️ don't ever stop learning learning about your environment, the tools you use, and especially the people around you
Never stop learning+ Never stop sharing what you learned
Just wanted to add that computer classes were a regular part of my schooling as a millennial and exactly zero of them included an explanation of what the Function keys all do.
I’m glad to know this now, though. Keep learning!
