i'll tell you my sins;

the souring expression has clearly been noted by the house leader. he can only imagine how felix must be feeling forced to participate in which he clearly detests and to be reminded of his own failing that got him banned from the training halls. yet it does not stop claude from being amused with the situation and the countless of opportunities just waiting for him to be used in a scheme. and the best part? he barely needs to do anything to obtain it.

but he also knows he needs to choose his words carefully lest he wants to make his scheme appear too obvious — his question has came forth out of genuine curiosity rather than any other ulterior motive. 

     ‘ sounds like you’ve never been to a good party, ’ he comments, raising his free hand ever so slightly in defense when seeing the look being send his way.  ‘ but you’re right parties like these tend to be used by nobles who want to use others to improve their own social standing. ’ claude’s gaze turns to the group of golden deer students who are standing by another table and watches how another girl rejects the advances of a certain purple haired student. he doesn’t need to say anything he just brings the glass closer to his mouth and takes a sip. ‘ anyway with these type of parties you just have to create your own kind of fun, ’ though in this case claude assumes that any fun felix will be having at this party is when he is finally able to leave.  

❛ why would i want to attend such ridiculous events in the first place? like i said, there’s no need for them. ❜  strength mattered : to be strong; to have the power to prevail against one’s foes ----- that is what carried victors throughout their countless battles. no one would thank the dreadful evening spent dancing among school halls for their successful triumph. disdain more so evident now that the muscles in his forearms are noticeably taut, as was his jaw. if the consequences would not be so dire, he would have fled long ago; perhaps, he wouldn’t even allowed such a conversation. dedicated swordsmen, how he would have drawn a wooden blade and marked up a few more training dummies. he laments the passing of a perfectly good opportunity to train, placing only the slightest amount of faith in the other that would hopefully offer him an escape route. 

the other has nothing to apologize for but he doesn’t say anything beyond what he already has told him. there is nothing left to say about it and so claude leaves it at that and instead observes how felix strides across the room. standing up from his spot, claude notes that felix’s gaze is still fixed on the ground but he does not mind it too much. the joy of felix’s return is far too strong to let it be ruined by such tiny detail.  

instead he closes the distance between and wraps his arms securely his lover as if to reassure himself that this isn’t a dream and that he would not wake up with a groan and an empty spot besides him.

     ‘ welcome back my love, ’ he says before leaning in to steal a kiss when felix allows him to do so. ‘ i have missed you, ’ but he is certain that his previous letter has conveyed that sentiment well enough, perhaps a bit too well, he thinks considering felix’s apology. his earlier worries all forgotten and replaced by a softened look and a fond smile. the question of how long he will be staying still lingers in the back of his head but for now he only wants to treasure this moment 

warmth envelops him, takes hold of tired muscles and soothes war - weary bones. whatever anxiousness and tension tightened his muscles fades away, and he relaxes in the arms of his beloved. there is no need for a warrior’s stance here, not when tenderness and affection caressed him in ways he sought so desperately during his youth. 

in truth, years spent at the academy and never did he admire claude’s brilliant smile :  the way it simply brightens his features, highlighting the curve of his strong jaw. he sees it now, when his eyes trail back to the other’s illuminated visage. the hammering of his heart does not quite quit, but he’s listened to the melody enough to tune it out, especially when such soft lips press ‘gainst his skin. cheeks flush slightly even as he returns the gesture. roseate lips peck the other’s cheek, in attempt to reciprocate the emotions.

     It was his mission – to be as loud as he could as he entered the training ground. This was an act of whim, all on it’s own. One to where he knew Felix would be hovering. The reason for the noise was to be noticed – and yes, by Felix himself. It wasn’t like Sylvain to come and train, never. But – here he was, and even on time. And for that, he wanted the other to know and show maybe an ounce of respect or gratitude. Yet, he knew it was a slim chance. 

           “ I’m here. I hope that makes you               happy. I could’ve been out with a               girl, but – you kept scolding me               that my training is important so,               here I am. ”

      ‘ i think you meant to say blessing, ’  he corrects him fully aware that he is distracting the other from his work as he strides across the room and takes a seat on the edge of the desk. ‘ and well maybe a little bit of a distraction ’ the king admits while glancing at the open documents before looking back at the other. ‘ you look like you could use a break. ’

he sighs. ❛  i could.  ❜ dukedom suited not one made for war and bloodshed, often times he chastises himself for the way he so blindly followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming the fraldarius legacy. he’d neither the desire nor time for such frivolous duties. and yet, he remains here : reading nauseatingly boring documents that pertain to lands and their ownership.
