The loss of privacy for Helen is I think part of the Hive’s horror. Like we all have stuff we would never want our loved ones to know but yet we still think. And Helen doesn’t get to have that anymore. Helen would NEVER have told Carol she thought the Wycaro books were cotton candy! Bitter Chrysalis is up in the air whether or not she would’ve told Carol her feelings about that but if she did she would certainly phrase it more gently and with a lot of love instead how the hive presented it. And if Carol had found the sensor while Helen was alive they could’ve discussed it instead of Carol just being left to deal with the reality on her own. Like all of Helen’s privacy everything she would’ve either never told Carol or told Carol but in a gentle way or discussed with Carol is now just out there. To be discussed in any way the hive sees fit and she can’t defend herself or explain herself or make Carol feel better about it.
