There was once an ancient town in the southern mountains. Winds did not blow their way any rain and hunters and fishers could not seem to find any substantial game. Crops rarely survived the harsh and turbulent weather, marked by harsh heat in the day and bitter cold in the night.

One day, a golden ram wandered into the heart of the town, capturing the attention of the residents. His fleece was short and torn, weathered by the natural disasters of the town. His hips and bones were made visible, and his cheeks were sallow with hunger. Atop his head sat a crown of 4 horns, two twisting into asymmetrical spirals and the two above pointing back. All could see that the famine and drought were not kind to the ram.

Despite their own conditions, the residents knew better than to eat their guest. Noticing the emaciated form of the ram, the farmer gathered some of his old harvest. With very little food himself to eat, the farmer offered his crops. In response, the ram bowed his head.

"Thank you," the ram replied. "How could I ever repay you?"

The farmer shook his head. "Famine has not been kind to any of us," he responded, "so why should I expect you to repay me?"

As the day went on, the fisherman returned home with empty nets. Noticing the ram had collapsed with the heat, she rushed home. With very little water herself to drink, the fisherman returned to him and offered a bowl of water. In response, the ram bowed his head.

"Thank you," the ram replied. "How could I ever repay you?"

The fisherman shook her head. "Drought has not been kind to any of us," she responded, "so why should I expect you to repay me?"

As night fell, the weaver noticed that the ram shivered in the cold, unable to keep himself warm on account of his short fleece. With a loom and very little of her thread left, the weaver offered a blanket. In response, the ram bowed his head.

"Thank you," the ram replied. "How could I ever repay you?"

The weaver shook her head. "The cold has not been kind to any of us," she responded, "so why should I expect you to repay me?"

As the farmer, fisherman, and weaver fell asleep, the ram's fleece grew unnaturally long. In the morning, they found golden threads spanning throughout the town. The ram, having survived the night thanks to the kindness of the town's residents, approached the weaver.

"In return for your town's kindness, I want you to fashion a net with my fleece and cast me into the sea," the ram said. "I will return with enough food to feed your town."

The weaver complied, taking the long threads of his fleece and fashioning a golden net. The ram followed the fisherman to the shoreline and disappeared under the waves to follow through with his promise.

The next day, the ram returned, his net of golden threads entangled with hundreds of fish and his body cold. Unable to hold the weight of the fish, he had drowned at sea. Inspired by his kindness, the winds, rains, and game returned to the mountains. While the town prospered, the residents could not forget his kindness. They placed his body among the stars where a sea of fish scales followed him.
