their big eggs are actually that size for a similar reason to human babies having massive heads!! being bigger at birth can be important.
kiwi are trying SO HARD to become mammals. fur-like feathers, whisker-like feathers, little beady eyes, nocturnal, great sense of smell.... that's basically a mammal!! they're well suited for life on the forest floor.
their big eggs work alongside these adaptations to give them a leg up in the bird world. their young hatch already feathered! they're precocial, which means they're born with the ability to open their eyes and move around. like foals.
big egg = more powerful offspring from the get-go. babies don't need to spend precious time vulnerable while they develop on the ground when they've already done all that in the egg!
(unfortunately, with the introduction of mammals to aotearoa, these adaptations are a little less useful...)
Important addition: baby kiwi come out of the egg looking like they've come out of a shower with a hangover
They look like one of the downsides of emerging from an egg fully formed is how aware you are off just having come out on egg. First minute alive, already dealing with some fucking experience.
Not seeing many people talk about this on Tumblr, so gonna spread the word myself: Webtoon is going to start using AI for translations and an AI chat bot with comic characters. If you're against this you should delete your account, and if you are publishing on the website, you should consider moving to other alternatives and especially having your own website to host your comic.
Also needless to say that Webtoon can absolutely afford to hire translators, this is just yet another way to not pay the people who are making the company behind Webtoon absurdly rich.

harmony is probably always going to be my fav animation software but sometimes i am like. the default preferences the program has have caused me SO much pain and sorrow while doing revision work on new animators' files (and granted part of this is the fact that the studio i used to work for just had NO oversight regarding training, or frequently no training period at all) because one of them is a setting that allows you to add keyframes to the drawings themselves without adding pegs. (and, of course, since these are rigs we were working with, they also had pegs. so more often than not I was going in and entirely redoing shots.) HIDEOUS. AWFUL.
