bbbbackground 4 SY & SJ

SY & SJ were laid on the side of a trade ship, and ended up imprinting on it when they hatched. They weren't expected to survive, their clutch only had 13 eggs hatch--and even less survived the "migration." (Where they just followed the ship along the trade routes sometimes starving for days at a time because they were worried their "mother" would leave without them if they stopped to find something to eat.)

The count from the clutch dwindled down to two. Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan. Right well SY & SJ went undetected for a few months, adapting to the way of their 'mother' and being able to go on long stretches of time without eating as they grew. Life wasn't...good, but it was enough. Up until Shen Jiu caught himself tangled in a net.

He had been able to slice through with his claws, there was no way that flimsy thing could survive his claw-work. He wasn't rattled by it or anything, just noted it down and let his brother know to avoid that area in the future. Unfortunately, his little escape proved to be more detrimental than just getting himself caught. Once whoever owned that net pulled it up saw the gaping hole in it, they made it their goal to catch just whatever it was that made such a hole. Unfortunately for the inexperienced clueless siblings, the person was very much a professional and ended up catching them with relative ease.

Shen Jiu still remembered the day. He felt stupid looking back on it now, calling for his “mother” as if the ship would magically come to their rescue. The first time they’d been captured, they escaped with ease—nobody expected the siblings to be able to grow legs, not even them. They’d been taken quite far from the sea though, there was no returning to it. So they lived in the streets, learning human words, mannerisms, trying their best to adapt to human life as children living on the streets.

They weren’t the only non-humans on the street, no. Qi-ge was there. Yue Qi was a tiangou (cool little funky dog guy). Yue Qi’s fortune didn't make life on the streets easier, but with 3 people instead of two life was bound to get better somewhat. Life still wasn’t good, but they all had each other… Until Shen Yuan got sick. His skin was itchy and his scales were popping off like there was no tomorrow (he’s just going through puberty but they don’t know that) and eventually SY just turns into a straight up fish and it’s up to Shen Jiu and Yue Qi to find something that’ll help him.

Disaster strikes when in canon compliant format Shen Jiu gets captured (he sends SY off with YQY). He spends three grueling years at the manor, waiting for the duo to return and save him… This time when Shen Jiu snaps his first thought isn’t “they’ve abandoned me.” No, Shen Jiu knew his brother would never do such a thing. His first thought is “something’s happened to them.”

Anyways in typical SJ fashion he tries to get stronger, meets his shitty master, is saved by YQY and joins the peak. (SY’s been living in a spiritual stream and has been learning how to switch forms for a while.) Upon seeing YQY fine and dandy SJ now starts to think they’ve abandoned him and is very prickly until he confronts SY about it (YQY told SJ where SY was) and he learns that SY & YQY did search for him but they were a day late and by the time they got there the manor was gone.

They were nice and all but the constant joking about being adopted started making Danny uncomfortable.

He’s an adult now. He has a stable family. His mom and dad are cool with him, they were distraught at having learned they were trying to capture and harm their own son. (He was very thankful it turned out that way, by the way.)

Plus, the whole thing with Vlad practically made him hate other people try to become like family to him, especially in a forceful way.

He was thankful that Cassandra, Duke and Damian had some common sense though. They’re the only cool ones.

He… dislikes (hates..?) the others.

And now that he’s involved with the Waynes, the bats are after him, just… stalking him. It’s uncomfortable. It’s a breach of privacy.

Speaking of breach of privacy, Tucker keeps notifying him someone keeps trying to look into him. He can only assume that’s the bats, not the Waynes. Or maybe it is them. Or both.

He just wanted a stable life after all the things he’s been through. And now he can’t even have that.

Cryp(did) company in Gotham

This mostly comes from how I've been seeing a lot of vampire media (which is a surprise in May but quite welcome!)

It got me thinking, modern interpretations of vampires have a lot of powers that are basically just watered-down versions of what ghosts have in the show. Plus Danny is more than powerful enough and I'm sure Vlad (masters not the impaler) would be so mad that Danny stole his shtick.

(flight, shape shifting, invisibility, super strength/speed, a weird extra move here and there's pretty common as well, it would also explain why most vampires only want blood since that's valuable life essence a ghost could easily use.)

So what if, while being sent on a time mission by Clockwork; 14-18 year old Danny comes upon a situation where he needs to extend his power to a human. (This can be any character, like dracula or some other elder vamp from other media)

Here is the Peacock-Miraculous-Centric SVSSS AU that resulted:

(Note: Rather than a singular group holding all the Miraculous, I'm imagining that several of the Miraculous are handed down through Guardian Families loosely affiliated with one another.)

Tianxi's Tragic Backstory:

When the previous Shen-family guardian passed away, the Old Palace Master managed to temporarily steal the Peacock Miraculous. Creep that he is, he used said miraculous to make himself a custom "perfect" girl who would need to follow his every order, Su Xiyan.

Of course, senti-creatures (and senti-humans especially) are sentient beings, and their amoks only allow control over their actions, not their thoughts or emotions. His little "project" grew to hate the Old Palace Master and her own inability to disobey his direct orders. (Poor girl lived in an Ella Enchanted style obedience curse hell).

By using her cleverness, and some creative order interpretations, Su Xiyan eventually managed to run away from home. She ended up meeting and falling for a fellow rebellious teen with mafia ties, Tianlang Jun.

Unfortunately for everyone, the Old Palace Master managed to track Su Xiyan down, and used her amok to force her to return with him. He then continued to abuse his control to learn everything he could about Tianlang Jun's family connections, before forcing Su Xiyan to provide the testimony that ultimately imprisoned him.

Unbeknownst to the Old Palace Master, Su Xiyan was already pregnant with Tianlang Jun's child by the time he recaptured her. It was only when the Old Palace Master released Su Xiyan from a several month long isolation, instituted as punishment for her "rebellion", that he noticed the obvious baby bump. A furious Old Palace Master commanded her to "get rid of it," but he phrased it in a way that could generously be interpreted as "remove it from the premises."

Su Xiyan used this as an excuse to escape once again, and successfully had her baby outside the Huan Hua manor... before a further infuriated Old Palace Master crushed the object containing her amok, ending her existence entirely.

Su Xiyan's newborn baby, Luo Binghe, was adopted by a kindly older woman who managed a laundromat (or perhaps a dry cleaning service).

Shen Jiu's Tragic Backstory:

The Shen family was able to recover the Peacock Miraculous from the Old Palace Master not long after he stole it (though they were unfortunately unaware he had already used it).

Eventually, the next Peacock Miraculous guardian decided they wanted a child, and they weren't terribly interested in making one the old fashioned way. Using the peacock, they made themselves a son, little Shen Jiu (玖: Jiǔ: Black Jade).

(As an optional aside, while the Shen family technically isn't supposed make themselves senti-children, the other guardians let them get away with it as long as they follow a few family rules: 1) The amok is to be stored away until the child is old enough to hold onto it themselves. 2) The child is NOT told they aren't a traditional-human until they receive their own amok. 3) Senti-humans aren't in the running for the future guardianship of the Peacock Miraculous.)

Shen Jiu's childhood was fairly ordinary, until his parent died unexpectedly. Naturally this happened before Shen Jiu was informed of his own nature, and could be warned about the dangers of others getting a hold of a certain ring. Perhaps an upset Shen Jiu threw the ring away when it was given to him, or perhaps Qiu Jianluo was just a thief, but either way Shen Jiu's amok ended up in the worst possible hands.

It didn't take long for the obsessive weirdo, Qiu Jianluo, to realize Shen Jiu had to listen to his every command. He gleefully ordered Shen Jiu to insist he wanted to stay with his "friends" in the Qiu household, and his aunt and uncle reluctantly agreed. (His aunt and uncle are branch members, not privy to the family secrets). Qiu Jianluo then proceeded to be as terrible to Shen Jiu as you can imagine.

The only one who knew Shen Jiu well enough to realize something was off, was Yue Qingyuan. Unfortunately, while Yue Qingyuan figured out that Shen Jiu was being controlled —and even connected it to the ring— he had no way of knowing the ring was also the source of Shen Jiu's literal existence. He grabbed the ring from Qiu Jianluo, then attempted to destroy it, and was horrified to see his friend scream and flicker as a result. A terrified and guilty Yue Qingyuan bolted (or was dragged away by guards), leaving Qiu Jianluo, a disoriented Shen Jiu and the ring behind.

It wasn't until later that Shen Jiu managed to recover the ring for himself... while also killing Qiu Jianluo and burning the Qiu manor down. The only Qiu family member the survived the fire was Qiu Haitang.

After the tragic death of his "friend" Shen Yuan's family took Shen Jiu in. Shen Jiu was generally distant to his new family (wary after they abandoned him to Qiu Jianluo, and distressed by his clearly inhuman status) but he managed to be a decent enough older brother to Shen Yuan.

Shen Jiu used his supernaturally good looks to gain incredible popularity as a supermodel, with the stage name Shen Qingqiu. While he doesn't trust Yue Qingyuan (the guy knows he's not human) he keeps him close as his manager and bodyguard. (Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, and all that).

The Novel:

So is there a novel in this particular AU? Yes actually! It is not a transmigration story however.

Damian, who is certain he can't have a crush on Danny, and thus decides that his interest in Danny means there's something else afoot. Love Potion? Siren's Song? Incubus Pheromone? Damian isn't sure, but he's going to find out and put a stop to it!

half ghosts are rare and depending on how it happened powerful. Dannys accident made him to grow god level. But Danny is in denial of what he is turning in to.

Now Danny has a cosmic multipolar personality disorder, he is manifesting from his subconscious whole spirits, identity’s he has no control over. forming from the infant realm's and going to the mortal realm.

So, we all know Danny is pretty young for a ghost. Like, yeah he's 20 now and in college and living with his friends in Gotham but his core is like 6 years old.

Non of the ghost around him really gave his core 'caring parent' vibes (except maybe Clockwork and Frostbite but they feel more like grandfathers or mentors to him) so he never ended up forming a parental bond like most young ghosts do

You see, Jason isn't much older than Danny really, just a year or so

The pit that's infected him and basically made his core how it is today.

So from an outside perspective, he feels like a much older ghost.

Well, neither of them know that. So they start hanging out, become friends and on both ends they each think they may be developing feelings for each other but something's not right.

For Jason, he knows he cares for Danny very much. He loves to see him smile and laugh and enjoys cooking for him and exchanging gifts but when Dickie bird asks if he's "down bad" all he can think is "Ew no"

But why? They're about the same age, Danny is cute and fit and has a great personality but....

Thinking of him like that gives him the ick. Danny's like his sweet baby boy! He could never think of him like that.

Wait..

On Danny's side, his bff's are on him about how obviously he has feelings for Jay! They spend so much time together, and he's hot af!

And Danny cuts them off like, "Guys, I get it but please don't call him hot. Yall saying that feels the same as when Vlad calls my mom hot, it's gross" and Sam and Tuck are both like huh?!?!? WTF DO YOU MEAN?!?!? And Danny has to stop and think, wait, what do I mean?!?

So Danny ends up going to ask Frostbite about it and Frosties all "Ah! It seems the two of you may have formed a type of parent/child bond! Congratulations on finally finding someone who you feel comfortable enough to do so with!"

Enter Danny Phantom, the Ghost King, who has reigned for a very long time. And in his youth, when he began to be summoned, he made it so that his ghostly form was seen differently. More precisely, everyone sees his form as the most appealing. For example, a teenage girl might see Danny the teenage girl instead of the grown man. Or a random grandfather might see him as a child. And they all immediately trust this form, which is a side effect of his role as a guardian spirit.

And this only works on the living, with a few exceptions, as well as on gods and demigods. He is, after all, the King of the Infinite Realms.

And Danny never feels uncomfortable being addressed as either a girl or a man. Although he does find it amusing when he's addressed as a child.

And then one day, the Justice League summons him to resolve an important matter (or any other reason), and everyone simply sees their own form. Batman sees a small child, Flash a beautiful girl with sweet features, Diana sees a grown woman with maternal features, Superman sees a teenager, and so on. Only Constantine sees this being's true form, for part of his soul is already in the Phantom's possession.

And complete confusion ensues when trying to properly address the King (Queen?). And the only thing that unites all the appearances is white hair and green eyes.
