About Leo
Name: Leonidas "Leo" Asim Kaur Age: 25 years old Birthday: February 14, 1964 Sexuality: gay Place of employment: Key of Reason Family: Mother and father; only child Birthplace: Cairo, Egypt
His full name is Leonidas. He doesn't hate it and in fact actually kind of likes it, but it was a mouthful as a child, so everyone just called him Leo
Leo's family is from Egypt, and he was born there, though they came to the U.S. when he was just a few years old
His parents are both college professors - history for his father and science for his mother
From a young age, Leo took piano lessons, and it was clear he showed quite the aptitude for it. Leo loved to play, and it didn't take long for people to begin calling him a prodigy
While his parents are both very "indoor" people, Leo also developed a love for the outdoors, no doubt influenced by the stunning landscapes of Shrike Heights. He enjoyed hiking and camping especially, and while he would often go with friends, sometimes he went alone too
After high school, Leo was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City. His parents were so proud, and Leo worked hard at school, fully aware of what an incredible opportunity it was to further cultivate his skill as a pianist
After graduating from Juilliard at the age of 22, Leo planned to return to obtain his Master's degree. However, just after graduation, he decided to go camping in a remote forest in Maine. He had no idea that this would change everything
Leo was an accomplished camper, but even the most cautious sometimes run into trouble, and such was the case with Leo. While out on his celebratory camping trip, he got lost on his first day in the woods, missing a trail marker and finding himself alone in a seemingly endless sea of trees. Worse still, after taking a bad step he stumbled into a ravine, severely injuring his right hand in the process
No one knew exactly where Leo was in Maine, so when he didn't check in with his parents or friends after his planned return date, they became worried. This was something Leo always did, and they knew something was wrong
In all, Leo was lost in the forest for seven days before he was found by a forest ranger. Unfortunately, going that long without medical attention for his hand caused it to be irreversibly damaged. Leo underwent surgery, and while his hand is still mostly functional, he no longer has the dexterity needed to be the kind of pianist he wants to be. When his favorite professor at Juilliard sadly agreed that something was just off about his performance, a distraught Leo dropped out of school and returned to Shrike Heights
Three years have passed since then, and Leo has become despondent and bitter, and he's become quite prickly, though he's still got a good heart underneath all of that. He's a bit reclusive and not very social, which is so different than how he used to be. Leo sometimes thinks about what his life could have been like, and he cursed his decision to go on that camping trip almost every day
These days, Leo rarely plays piano, and even then never with people around. And being in the forest gives him unshakable anxiety. That's why he's so bitter: he's lost the two things he truly loved
