I could go fully into explaining how the "it was promised to them 3,000 years ago" jokes fundamentally are based on a misunderstanding of the Torah because the "joke" would not work otherwise.

However at the end of the day its just calling jews greedy. Like people whip it out about everything and anything that it literally is just the socially acceptable way to call jews greedy. Ya know, a stereotype shoved on us for decades.

At least come up with something original instead of reheating the same nachos that nazi Germany reheated.

Don't worry. I only made the connection myself today right before I made the post.

I was thinking about it because I made the joke in the same way jews joke about like space lazers and stuff, mocking people who actually use that joke. And that made me think of like, how it doesn't work with how jews understand that part of the Torah. And how its a Christian misunderstanding. And I was thinking of the differences between the two and how jews view it as custodianship. We were tasks with taking care of the land, like a chore almost to keep it brief. And the "joke" understanding painted it like we wanted everything, land, food, culture, etc. Painted it like we were... greedy. And that's when it clicked.

Ah yes, the "3000 years ago" chestnut. Conservatives only have one joke, as they say. But for some reason most of the ones using that particular line are in denial that they're conservatives.

In my judgement it bears more similarity to "we wuz kangz" joke. Anyone remember that one? It was a sort of veiled criticism, unavoidably racial, of what they saw as neopagan political fantasism—the delusional pseudohistory of a cult of larpers. But it was also just used as a way of dismissing any black voice that dared breathe word of (for example) African cultures and history lost.
