âAlright, you kids have already been taught how to take cover should a tornado or fire occur, but this is Casper High, after all. Youâre much more likely to encounter a ghost than a destructive force of nature,â Lancer started.
âG-ghosts?!â Ah. Some freshman in the back. Heâll learn.Â
âYes, ghosts. Iâve teamed up with the Fentons, our local ghost hunters, to work out some sort of plan for us should a ghost attack, as they areâŚsupposedly professionals.â Lancer pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers.Â
Valerie lightly scoffed in the distance; Sam rolled her eyes.Â
âSo, if you see a ghost, alert a faculty member immediately. We are working on getting ghost alarms installed, so there will be something similar to a fire alarm you can pull located across the school, but until then, we are going by word of mouth. It is important that you remain calm, and analyze any means of escape. Do not provoke the ghost, do not interact with the ghost. If you can get yourself out of the school, please report to our designated meetup area across the street, but please do not run. Try to keep some sense of organization and control so everyone can get out safely. Donât leave anyone behind unless it is a last resort. Let an adult handle the rest. Does everyone understand?âÂ
The students bobbed their heads as they nodded.
âExcellent. Now open your textbooks to page 364 and weâll get on with our-â The teacher was cut off by a scream out in the hall.
âGHOST!â A kid yelled as he ran down the hallway.
Immediately, all but 4 students in the classroom stood up and began panicking.
âGreat Expectations! Remember what I just said!â Lancer warned before falling to the ground as Dash pushed past him, the muscular footballer easily knocking the teacher over in the process.
Kwan started throwing a chair at the window to break it, Paulina screamed and hid behind Star, who seemed to actually be following what Lancer had said. Valerie groaned and ran towards her locker. The trio continued sitting and watching the chaos, Tucker not even glancing up from his PDA. Danny scanned the area, looking for both the ghost and a place to transform into his alter ego.Â
Their fellow classmates were stumbling over each other trying to get out of the room. Dash suddenly burst through them all as he returned to the classroom with a baseball bat. âIt ran in here! I got it!âÂ
âMr. Baxter! Remove yourself from the situation immediately!â Lancer scrambled up and tried taking the bat from the student, who once again easily pushed the teacher to the floor. Screams increased as an ectopus popped its head into the room.Â
Danny let out a breath he was holding, seeing the ghost was only a minor threat. âOh,â he leaned back in his chair.Â
âI said I got it!â Dash yelled as he swung the bat at the ghost, the bat easily passing through it. The ghost angrily looked over at its attacker.Â
Sam smacked her hand to her forehead and dragged it down her face.Â
âShit!â Dash dropped the bat and ran out of the room.Â
âOh, hell!â Lancer stood and followed him, ignoring his own instructions and leaving the trio in the room alone. Valerie was chasing down a second ectopus outside, blasting it with her gun.
Tucker dug a thermos out of his backpack and passed it to Sam, his eyes not leaving the game he was playing. Sam stood and quietly approached the ghost as it began to pursue Dash and Lancer down the hall. She lifted the uncapped thermos and easily sucked the ghost in, recapping the thermos and tossing it to Danny, who caught it with one hand and placed it in his backpack.Â
âAmateurs,â Tucker muttered. Danny chuckled and watched as Sam sat back down and pulled out her iPod.Â
âTheyâre gonna be gone for awhile,â Sam put her headphones on and started blasting Metallica.Â
âWell, at least I have some time to catch up on some sleep,â Danny shrugged as he leaned towards the desk to lay his head on it. Sam shoved her sweatshirt under his head as a pillow and Danny smiled gratefully, yawning before shutting his eyes and dozing off.
