the fact that there were people calling madoka magica “torture porn” is baffling to me. like. it’s a tragedy. it’s . it’s a sad anime. sometimes upsetting things happen to make characters unhappy. sometimes that’s called plot.
i like the way they think though and i wanna see how far we can take it.
romeo and juliet is torture porn. they both die at the end just so freaks can get off to their suffering. spongebob is torture porn. he mentions stubbing his toe and crying for twenty minutes. why put your main character through that kind of suffering? they do it to make weirdos and perverts happy. i’m sure of it.
also the point is to show how teen girls are manipulated, how the patriarchy tries to control them. how fucking awful it is to be basically forced into danger and responsiblity in exchange for one little thing you want. to become mature even though you aren’t ready for it yet. how crushing it all is. and how sometimes having a crush on your bestie turns you into satan.
that’s just what being 14 is like.
life is an endless cycle and you can’t change fate no matter how hard you try. but also there are girls and they are cute and want to be your friends. :)!
