Forever Fluffy

Hey Everyone!

It's K here. I know long time no blog...wait when was the last time anything was posted here? ::goes to check:: Oh Jeez, last post was on my birthday...ok so let's catch up a little.

I have new job. It's awesome. Love my coworkers. Love the projects I am working on. I'm in a happy place. Can't really speak about what exactly I do and who I work for b/c of paperwork, but it's 1 step closer to helping start a global smile epidemic. So yay! 

We've (A + I) have been on a monthly concert kick. We saw Sara Bareilles in July (sorry no good pictures), and Backstreet Boys earlier this month (Picture of the boys performing "The One").

This upcoming month we have Yellowcard, followed by Matt Nathanson in October, and then Florida Georgia Line in November...We just need to find a concert to go to in December (::cough:: Life of Riley come to NYC ::cough::) Sorry about that...I guess Fall allergies are coming early. ;-D

Anyway, A + I are discussing about what exactly to do with our little slice of Fluffy blog Heaven...We are going to reformat it since the whole 6 posts a week thing didn't really work so once we figure out how not to suck at blog life; we'll get to posting.

Ok need to watch the VMAs now b/c A is apparently watching an Award Show.

Nothing in the world makes me feel better than sharing things. This article totally made me feel better and inspired after I read it. Hopefully, it does the same thing for you! :-D

Here’s how the exact convo b/t A & I went… K: “Did you listen to JoJo smashing the crap out of Paula Coles/Dawson’s Creek Anthem?” A: “uggh I just died. She’s not human.” K: “Pretty sure she is a singing cyborg.”

Flash Back Friday: My love/hate relationship with ALF.

As you can see from the above picture, Alf and I were bedfellows.  I loved him so much because he was the whole puppet friend package – Funny & Fuzzy (Plus, there was a character named Kate on the show!). However, he scared the crap out of me every time he went after a cat. (Case in point: this picture was taken in a hotel near Sesame Place because I didn’t want to leave him home with my cat, Friendship, even though my uncle was staying over our house to watch her.) Even now as I watch the repeats on The Hub (the best Throwback TV channel ever!!) at night, I laugh along while watching all of Alf’s shenanigans. Yet the moment he turns into “Alf the Cat Hunter,” I change the channel and quickly get up to do a pet count (1 dog, 2 cats, 2 hermit crabs – WHEW!!!). So Alf if you're out there and read this: I still love you, but don't agree with your dietary views.

      [Side Note: I know what you are thinking: “OMG THE FLUFFETTES AREN’T DEAD & THEY REMEMBERED THEY HAD A TUMBLR ACCOUNT!!!”

Let me be the first to apologize. I’m sorry for the very very very very limited postings on our account, but life is a PAIN (at times). We have been thinking of all of you and have discussed blog/vlog ideas, but since we’ve been both busy, we’ve neglected our Fluffydom.

I only can speak for myself, but I don’t like posting things for the sake of having content (I'm not a content whore). I rather publish posts of things I like and actually think about. There have been many times in the past couple of weeks, I’ve sat down to write for this blog and then become distracted by real world things. So I’m really sorry for the big gaps in between postings. I'll try harder not to get distracted by glittery, shiney obj....)

Silly me did I accidentally wear clothing laced with invisibility powers again?!

Over the past year I've been saying this phrase or some form of this it under my breath at least 2x a day. I think it's because a lot of people suffer from MEFIRSTITIS & ALLABOUTMENONIA. You see these are highly contagious diseases, which causes others who have made contact with people suffering from them to develop severe inner (and sometimes outer) rage. 

Now I wouldn't normally write about it because I know it's something that annoys me greatly and others in society just have accepted it. However, yesterday (Thursday) pushed me over my limit of "SWEET! My Invisibility Powers Must Have Kicked In" joking mentality when my dog was affected by one of these assholes.

(Short Summary: A car made a turn into my dog as my brother and her were crossing the street on their after dinner walk. The driver claims he didn't see them, but my brother is over 6FT tall, the area is well lit & has no view blockages, and HE STOPPED FOR THE STOP SIGN before turning into her. Thankfully, She is fine since he didn't hit the gas so it was like someone pushed her over and she only has 2 superficial scrapes.)

Choices...chances...changes...One week into the New Year and we all have resolutions that we are trying our best to fulfill. I think this quote says it best. Change can come you just have to make the decision to never give up on yourself <3 

Happy Monday everyone! Hope your weekends were full of fun. To start the week off right here's a simple breakdown of a fun and easy mani. Your friends will think you're a nail art pro after trying this one! I'm going to show you how to get a leopard mani in 3 totally easy steps that ANYONE can do!

Step 1: Paint your nails with two coats your must have color of the moment. I chose Essie's Mint Candy Apple. 

Step 2: Once your base color is dry (give it at least 5-8 minutes or when it no longer feels tacky) use a small nail brush or a toothpick to draw scattered little lines with a black nail polish. You can also you a black deco nail paint, however I've found that you have more control with a smaller brush. The key to keeping this neat is to barely get any polish onto your brush. It's easier to darken the line then to clean up a blob. 

There is also no specific pattern to follow. These lines will be filled in with your spot color in the next step so just keep that in mind. I like to alternate with parallel lines, U/V shapes and straight lines to give it more variety and a more natural look.

Step 3: Using a small brush or toothpick fill in the lines. Again the key to keeping this neat is to use a minimal amount of polish at a time. I like to put a small dot and then spread it out. 

**Once you're finished let it dry COMPLETELY (10-15 min) before applying a top coat. If you do it too soon the colors will all bleed into one another.

The great thing about a mani like this is it doesn't have to be perfect, so if you don't have as steady of a hand this is the perfect nail art to start with. It's fun, simple and totally cute!

For this mani, since it's winter and my base coat is a bit bright, I wanted a more muted look so I used Butter London's Tea With the Queen. 

A fun way to subdue this for school or work would be to just do a statement nail (usually the ring finger) with the leopard print. Or you could also spice it up by alternating the colors on a statement nail to give it a little more oomph! Here's another example of colors I've mixed. 

hot pink and purple (perfect for the summer or a tropical vacay!)

I'm not going to go into how much I love The Fraggles & Fraggle Rock here. However, I do need to mention that one of the highlights of 2012 was going to the Jim Henson Exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image and seeing Gobo & Cantus in person. [Actually, I tried to have a full on conversation with them until I was reminded that 1. they weren't alive & 2. If they were they were behind glass & couldn't hear me. I seriously stood in front of them for about 15 minutes geekily smiling while my family continued to walk around the rest of the museum. They actually found me watching the video about Jim Henson's Muppets (for the 4th time) and singing & clapping along when the FR section started. (Thankfully Grover wasn't a part of the exhibit or I would've exploded into Katigoo. Since I was 4, I've told people I wanted to be Grover's Assistant/Best Friend & live in Fraggle Rock next door to Boober when I was a grown up.)]

Thank you Ben Folds Five, Chris Hardwick & Nerdist, & Lisa Henson for making this video and allowing the Fraggles to emerge. This Silly Person is truly grateful & can't wait to celebrate 30 years of the Fraggles in 2013!!!
