The main problem with the "Phob is a walking red flag who doesn't deserve forgiveness" argument is that it applies 2026 morality to characters who didn't have the luxury of knowing how history turns out.
Take off the romance glasses for a second and look at this as a 1932 political thriller: we know the June Revolution is going to succeed. Phob has no idea.
From Phob's perspective, there are only two ways this ends:
The People's Party succeeds and overthrows absolute rule.
The plot is exposed, and everyone involved gets executed.
These aren't exaggerated stakes. Historically, crushed coups were met with severe state violence. (Fun historical fact: in real life, the revolutionaries had to strike on that exact date because Prince Paribatra already had a list of conspirators. Any further postponement wasn't just risky, it was a death sentence.)
Remember the 1912 Palace Revolt? If not, don't worry, I broke that down [here]. But it's an essential point of comparison: the organizers were never seen as people with "good intentions but flawed execution." They were viewed as flat-out traitors to the crown, and the state made an example out of them. Regardless of specific sentence differences, the takeaway for future revolutionaries was unmistakable: failure carries catastrophic personal risk. That exact precedent is what dictates Phobโs risk assessment in 1932.
And that, my friends, significantly changes the ethical math. If Phob decides to keep his hands off the data just to protect Tin's feelings, he isn't just choosing romance over politics. Heโs actively choosing the collapse of the revolution, the mass arrest of his friends, his own execution, and the survival of a regime he literally loathes. Look, love is great, but abandoning the entire movement for a boy would turn his entire character arc into a joke. Whether you agree with his politics or not, Phob actually believes in the cause. Letting it all burn for a crush wouldnโt just be tragic, it would ruin the show's internal logic.
Instead of writing them off as a walking red flag, I looked at them as a funhouse mirror. In 1921, Tin is playing the martyr: "If I hurt Phob, he lives a better life." Flash forward to 1932, and Phob is repeating the script: "If I hurt Tin, millions might have a better future." Neither of them is choosing betrayal because the spark died. Theyโre doing it because their moral compasses are forcing them into a corner. Itโs a tragic conflict masquerading as relationship drama.
Letโs fix our vocabulary here: a "red flag" is someone manipulating you for their own selfish gain. A tragic hero is someone breaking your heart because they genuinely believe a higher duty demands it. Those are not the same thing. One belongs on a toxic relationship subreddit; the other belongs in a Shakespeare play.
Can we please stop treating Tin like a clueless Himbo? The man isn't some oblivious aristocrat wandering blindly through history. His actual political views have been scattered throughout his dialogue since we met him in 1932. By Episode 5, heโs already connected Phob to Janthorn, clocked the revolutionary vibes, and he literally runs a major branch of the royal administration. Frankly, it would be an insult to his IQ if he didn't realize Phob was up to something shady. The real tragedy of Episode 5 isnโt "Oh wow, Tin was blindsided." Itโs "Tin knew exactly what time it was, but hoped love could pause the clock." And honestly? That hurts so much worse.
Janthorn saying "One day the prince will forgive you" is actually peak psychology. Not because forgiveness is a given, but because sheโs been reading Tin like a book.
Letโs be real: Tinโs brand has never been vindictiveness. Itโs a massive, glowing self-sacrifice complex. Every single one of his major life choices boils down to: "How can I absorb maximum emotional damage so no one else has to?"
If anyone on Earth is capable of separating "You betrayed me" from "You stopped loving me," itโs Tin. Don't get me wrong, the man is going to be absolutely wrecked. But Janthorn is just betting on the fact that once Tin realizes why Phob did it, heโll have to look in a mirror. Tin threw away love for royal duty; Phob is throwing it away for the revolution. Itโs the exact same script, just a different font. Whether Tin forgives him right away is a different story, but expecting eventual forgiveness isn't naive, itโs just Tin recognizing his own brand of martyr logic.
This is why I keep harping on the framing.
Itโs all about the presentation, folks. The act itself is neutral; the execution is where the drama lives. If Phob spends the scene twirling his metaphorical mustache, smiling through the deception, exploiting Tinโs affection without a shred of remorse, and treating him like a glorified royal stepping stone? Then yeah, heโs a red flag. But if the writers give us the angst special: him hesitating, staring at a sleeping Tin, dying inside because heโs nuking the trust they just rebuilt, and accepting eternal hatred? Then itโs just the 1932 version of Tin writing that letter. Neither wants to do it, both are devastated, and theyโre both weaponizing their own trauma.
So the real question isn't "Should Tin forgive Phob?" The actual, spicy question is: "How can you mad at Phob for copy-pasting Tinโs exact playbook from two episodes ago?" They are running the same tragic script: ''If I play the villain in your story, maybe everyone else survives." One is playing defense for his family and the crown, while the other is trying to rewrite the nation's future.ย Sure, the scale is different, but emotionally, it's a mirror image. They really are made for each other. Mostly because theyโre both obsessed with self-destruction.
If the writers stick to their guns on this parallel instead of watering it down into a basic "we just need to talk it out" romance obstacle, weโre looking at an actual tragedy. At that point, forgiveness stops being about excusing a betrayal and becomes about trauma-bonding over their shared misery. It's the two of them looking at each other and realizing, "Oh, we both completely wrecked our lives for things we thought we couldn't walk away from." Normal relationship rules simply do not apply here.

*wipes tears from my eyes* I love his petty ass so fucking much!
petty petty petty petty
I think consuming QL with wildly different levels of budget and experience has made me a lot more able to roll with imperfections and not let them take me out of the story.
My bestie is very discriminating about technical excellence and tone and pitch and believability and plots not having any holes or logical fallacies and I get it, but I feel like itโs very limiting.
And I donโt know, itโs kind of imagination-deficient? I used to let a bad special effect or implausible story element take me right out of an entire movie, but now I feel like, you donโt have to spoon-feed me perfection. I can have discerning taste and also allow leeway for things to go a little wonky as long as thereโs enough good stuff in a piece to keep my imagination fired up.
(I also think there can be regional bias about what is and isnโt considered excellent, tonally non-cringe, plausible etc., but it was really the limiting nature of it allโand the inability to fill in a bit with imaginationโthat I was thinking about at the moment.)

Seonghwa talked about filming dance challenges with junior idols from small companies:
โญThese days things are going so well, so I feel good. A lot of people recognize and congratulate me a lot, and... I feel really thankful. I also, in my own way, try to find what I can do and do it. Thatโs my mindset. So I wondered what I could do, and I just filmed challenges diligently, contacted people here and there and filmed. Even when I felt tired I wanted to help somehow, so I worked hard (like that), I wonder if it helped? If it did even a little, then thatโs enough for me. And now, usuallyโฆ I also had times like that, when I really wanted to film a challenge with a senior I admired. I would do my hair and makeup on my day off, go to the broadcast station and even bring a gift. That one moment would stay as such a good memory for me, and the senior would say a lot of good things to me that it would become a good connection. I thought, โsomeday, if I can, I want to do that too.โ I donโt know if I can help in a big way yet (with popularity), but if itโs something good for those juniors Iโll do everything I can. I know that feeling so well and it's such a precious one, so how could I refuse that? You just have to do it, of course. And if Iโm can remember it I want to do their challenges too, but Iโm really slow at learning choreography, even memorizing our own songs takes me a long time. But still, I want to do it sincerely. If I get the chance, I want to practice more and do better, but after doing so many (challenges) I do hit a bit of a limit. So even when resting, I keep watching videos and trying to film better (challenges). Yes. Seniors and juniors both prepare really well, so how could I do it halfโheartedly? I need to help, even if it's just a little.
I've written about this before (here and here) but it's so nice to hear from Seonghwa that he deliberately seeks out idols from small company groups for dance challenges. It gives these juniors a platform and exposure they might not otherwise have to promote their work. It's not only Seonghwa who does this, but especially for this comeback, with the amount of attention they're getting for BAD, the fact that he's filmed so much is an incredibly thoughtful and generous gesture.
Humble and Kindness.

๐ฌ โHow do I become confident?โ
๐๏ธ: More than anything, I want to tell you this. I want everyone listening right now to know that you already matter. You're already enough. You're so precious just as you are, and I hope you don't let other people's words get to you. You're already worthy. Don't let yourself be swayed by what others say. You're here, you're alive, you're breathing, and we're sharing this moment together. To me, that's something incredibly precious. So even if you get hurt, or life knocks you around sometimes, it's okay.
It'll pass. Everything passes. The good times pass, and the hard times pass too. Nothing lasts forever. The people who judge you or speak badly about you simply haven't learned how to love yet. Maybe all they need is someone to show them how.
So hold your head high. Walk with confidence. And if there are people who spend their time criticizing you, people who go out of their way just to tear someone else down then, if you can, feel compassion for them. If you have it in you, show them kindness.
And if you don't, that's okay too. Just let it go, ignore them, and keep moving forward. You're going to be okay.

There ain't no drama like historical drama!
The back-and-forth of this scene was better than any tennis match I've ever witnessed. Phob being like "the soldiers would look better if they got paid consistently" only for the dad to push back with "we all have to accept sacrifice" only for Phob to pop back with "yeah, but your rich asses are sitting on mountains of money compared to the common folk who could die without a steady income, so maybe you should care about society as a whole instead of just your own selfish ass" just so the dad could spring back with "I have stacks of money because I worked hard for that money" JUST SO PHOP'S SUPERVISOR COULD TAG IN WITH "YOU HAVE MONEY BECAUSE YOU ENSLAVED FOLKS AND PAID OTHERS NOTHING SO YOU COULD LEGALLY ROB THEM OF WEALTH WHILE YOUR GREEDY ASS STAYED COLLECTING" then Tin decides to tag in with "well, we can't help it that we are smarter therefore we can guide people and the country in the best direction so y'all should be thanking us that we have never been colonized" just so his bae could swing back with "just because we haven't been colonized by outsiders doesn't mean we haven't been oppressed by insiders" *snaps* only for the dad to crack his whole neck with "the common folks need to fucking take several seats and be humble that we did so well guiding this country FOR CENTURIES because without us they wouldn't have gotten the chance to study in those colonizing ass countries who gave them all these big fancy ass ideas that they now want to come back and be ungrateful to the same country that gave them that opportunity with" and they did it all without ever looking at each other!
Like, who the fuck needs drugs when historical arguments like this exist!
Both of the Xu brothers are amazing for the Feng brothers, but kudos to Wenshu being the best man at all times!
I think the story has shown us that everything Wenshu has done has been for Qingtian, yet Qingtian just convinced himself that it was all for Qinglang since his heart is still with Chenzhu. Wenshu has been in love with Qingtian for Lord only knows how long, but he has never once put those feelings on him.
He's paid for Chenzhu care for all these years just so Qingtian can see him. He came back to the country just to go on this MONTHS-LONG tour with Qingtian. He dropped everything to pick Qingtian up at the airport. He moved seats just so Qingtian could continue sleeping peacefully. He was there to comfort Qingtian when he found out about Chenzhu and tried to interject when the family berated him.
Qingtian thinks Wenshu was too passive in his pursuit of Qinglang. He thinks Wenshu set traps waiting to get his brother, while Changyang was the hunter who went out and caught Qinglang, yet Wenshu casually states that he sees himself as a hunter, actively pursing what he wants. He also says that although he admits defeat, he won't stop because he wants to be the "eternal white moonlight" there to light the way when needed.
When Qinglang asked him about Chenzhu, Qingtian plainly stated that if Chenzhu died, so would he.
And oddly enough, Wenshu told his father he had only come back because of "an opportunity" and once the dad pressed him for more details, he said "an old friend had passed away." The dad made the assumption that was Producer Lan's passing, and although Wenshu said a brief "yes," it felt like his old friend was a different person, especially because later he argued with his father about being gay.
As if the "opportunity" was to see Qingtian since he knows Chenzhu is not getting better.
When he secretly met Qinglang (which is interesting in itself), he commented that no amount of money could get him what he wants.
But it does allow him to get close to what he wants.
Basically, I think Wenshu has been actively making sure Qingtian is taken care of by taking care of Qinglang (making sure he had steady acting after the incident with Shi Yuhao), taking care of Chenzhu (making sure he had the proper care he need for OVER THREE YEARS), and even possibly getting Changyang involved to watch over him when Qingtian ran away to the mountains.
This man has been putting in the work without ever making it Qingtian's problem, and I hope that even through Qingtian's grief, he can see that.
