I'm starting to believe that Fang Chi and Gao Zhun are not anymore characters that Zhen Xin and Zhang Zhun are playing. They became a sort of alter ego of their own life. Everything that is happening in the movie is overflowing in their reality. When Fang Chi and Gao Zhun are having high intensity, their actors playing them also feels it. So when they are facing challenges… then their actors also face the same.
In episode 8 and 9, Gao Zhun has made very extreme choices: first, to avoid being sexually attacked by Justin, he stabbed himself because he kept in mind the advice that Fang Chi told him. Secondly, to replace the nightmare he feels every time he thinks about when he was forced to have sex with the masked man, he wanted to recreate the scene, but with someone else. In all these things, it only shows his dependence on Fang Chi because for both these events, Fang Chi was asked to come.
Gao Zhun seems to have a very co-dependent relationship with Fang Chi that exceed the simple relationship between a patient and his doctor. I insist on the idea of co-dependency because I believe Fang Chi is getting lured into it too. So, Fang Chi made a radical move of disappearing from Gao Zhun's life. Zhen Xin claim that Fang Chi loves Zhen Xin and that's why he made this move, even if it's hurt him as well as hurting Gao Zhun.
One thing is sure Fang Chi is "breaking the rules he built" and he is breaking them for Gao Zhun, the same way Zhen Xin has is own and he is breaking them to show his affection to Zhang Zhun: piercing his ear to have the same as him (so it's like a couple ring/t-shirt, but instead with a earring), being close to him when they should be careful, making sure his ex girlfriend won't be a problem (with her willing participation) and telling him that he loves him. Just like his alter ego, Zhen Xin is making sure that his feelings are known.
However, as Gao Zhun is suffering from the break up imposed by Fang Chi, it seems like Zhang Zhun will also go through his own ordeal. There are online speculation about his "bond" with Zhen Xin and by the end of the episode 9, it seems like it's going to have some repercussion on either his future in the entertainment business or it's going to have consequences for Zhen Xin. Will Zhang Zhun just like Gao Zhun refused to wake up from this "dream" too? As for me, I feel like it's another proof that what's happening to Fang Chi and Gao Zhun is also happening to Zhen Xin and Zhang Zhun. There is a parallel in what both couples are facing.
Let's hope that if Fang Chi decides to go back to Gao Zhun, then Zhen Xin and Zhang Zhun has a possibility for a happy ending too.
