Short Story by Naliah, artwork by Nadia!
You woke up to one of your kittens playfully batting at your tail. You lifted your head to see the other three battling against each other and practicing their hunting skills. It was their first hunting day, and they were getting quite excited. It seems you were just getting excited at the thought from how your claws showed, and your fangs grew.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the kitten playing with your tails stomach growling, signaling the growls from the rest of the kittens. Time to hunt, you supposed.
You stood up, causing all your kittens to look to you for instruction on the dayâs activities. You smirked, and meowed to gesture the kittens to follow you out. They trotted behind you, keeping watch of their surroundings as you had taught them. You were proud of your kitties, and knew they could start hunting training today.
As you neared your destination, you could hear screams and laughter from up ahead. Your paws padded soundlessly through the forest, keeping to the dirt trail that no one dared to traverse. The kittens behind you came to walk beside you, only shorter than you by a few inches.
Eventually, you came to the clearing, peeking out to see your prey: three children playing on some playground equipment and their mom and older sibling sitting at a bench. Perfect, you thought. The perfect amount in the perfect place.
You and the kitten that was playing with your tail went toward the left, moving toward the older two. The more playful kittens ventured to the right, toward the two kids on the playground. Sneaking up behind the square bench, your claws extracted from your paws. Your tail swished dangerously behind you, as well as the kittens.
You licked your lips, eyeing the human with headphones on in hunger. Your kitten behind you took stance, eyeing the oldest one. With your legs in position, your claws out and ready, you pounced.
As soon as the kittens saw you pounce, they pounced right after. If felt amazing to sink your fangs and teeth into your prey. Of course, there is always a downside to drinking from humans; they made the most annoying screams. So, as they all screamed, you sunk your teeth harder to get it over with. Purple poison leaked from your fangs and forced itâs way into the human. More blood streamed into your mouth, making you purr in satisfaction. It was a miracle that the girl passed out, but the aldult human was still trying to fight your kitten. Which, of course, wasnât acceptable. So, you did what any mother would do and licked the girls wound shut and stalked over to the other kitten.
You could tell the kitten that came with you was the only one having trouble. The human kept trying to push her off and was hitting her face at the moment. Retaliating, you loomed over the adult. You called out to the kitten, which grabbed her attention as she perked up to look at you, only to remember she had her teeth stuck in the humans neck. The sudden movement ripped the wound on the humans neck and made it too large to drink from comfortable. You rolled your eyes as she shyed away and licked at the wound.
You purred out to get her attention again and showed her the stance she should take. She meowed in reply, and as the human tried to crawl away, she took the stance that pinned the human down, restricting the use of her arms and hands. Realizing how useful this stance really was, the kitten took full advantage and bit into the other side of her neck. Pleased, you went back to the human you originally pounced on, and started to drag it back toward the treeline.
On your journey to the treeline, you spotted your other kittens with twin humans hanging from their jaws. You smiled, proud at how successful this was. Youâd definitely trust them out here again.
