tw: death, not super graphic or descriptive but i do talk about her corpse, funerals etc
Just wanted to explore Beau's view of Urbain drastically shifting
Was thinking about the specifics of her death, and I think the most painful way would be something not even heroic, maybe even Looney Tunes-esque. But she's not a Looney Tunes character, and a large slab of concrete or even a metal beam falling from Ange Floette as she comes to a halt is not something she can survive. And perhaps Beau had to witness it all unfold right infront of him.
He can't forget the feeling of her blood splattering across his face, nor the metallic scent lingering for days after. He tried his best to pull her out from under the wreckage, but as strong as she is, there was no way she could have survived that. The only silver lining is the results of the autopsy showing that her death was immediate, she was dead before she knew it.
Her body were so disfigured that she couldn't have an open casket funeral, he can't even see her face for one last time. Though, he was so far back among the crowds of people who came to pay their respects that it's not like he would ever have the chance if she did.
It wasn't some kind of heroic sacrifice, it was completely avoidable if something or someone just pushed her out of the way. There are days where Beau thinks of all the "what if"s that could have saved her.
What if he hadn't called her over for a congratulatory hug, would she still be alive?
What if he had ran to her instead? He'd be dead but his death would cause much less pain to everyone in general, some may even cheer at his demise.
What if the couple of minutes they were embracing and sharing a kiss before she faced off with Ange Floette was all it took to kill her? Or even just the act of fixing her hair up with his tie. Butterfree effect and all that.
A small part of him feels like he could have done something, or maybe, he even caused her death.
But as he's leaving Hotel Z after picking up a small box of her belongings (mostly gifts from him) that her parents had decided to leave behind, he sees them.
Urbain and Floette, giving him a smile laced with pity.
He, who insisted he was up to task to save Lumiose City from Ange, and she, who gave it her power.
His grits his teeth as he storms out of the hotel.
His anger towards them only grows as he makes his way back to his home to shut himself in for the rest of the day.
She's gone because of them.
Throughout her stay, Urbain had caused nothing but trouble for her, all because of his naive sense of justice. Of course he'd the be the very reason she died! Dumb kid couldn't let his rivalry with Terra slide for a second, not even after she trashed his team to determine who would be the one to save the city.
It should have been him under the rubble. That smiley-faced brat.
And that cursed Floette too. How is it fair that she gets to live forever when Terra's life was cut so tragically short. She didn't cry when Terra died, and even at the news of AZ's death, she still had that smile on her face. Is death just a joke to you? Is this what immortality does to one's mind?
He takes a drag of his cigarette and reminisces the early days of his time with Terra. All the laughs, tears, slowly opening up to each other. Funny how they started out hating each other. But then it hits him.
They only ever got to know each other because of Urbain.
Urbain is the reason he got to know such joy, camaraderie and love, and yet, Urbain is also the one to take it away.
I think there's a little trepidation on both their parts. Both of them want it but both are too scared to ask because if their answers don't align, it may signal them not being on the same page.
I think Terra's more likely to ask though; her family life is very normal and her parents were very loving in comparison to the... well... nothing... that Beau had. Despite her recklessness and bad habits, she does have a maternal bone in her body, it's just that it's only ever really seen with Pokemon since she doesn't interact with other people's kids the same way (she's more like the fun aunt in this context)
The one exception is Ansha during the DLC, where both of them unknowingly did treat her as a daughter of sorts. When Ansha was eventually about to leave, TerBeau sort of went off (not in a rude way?) on Diantha about the dangers her daughter was in and perhaps should consider finding someone else better suited to watch her in future. Diantha chuckles before joking "Alright, I'll call you two in future if she ever needs babysitting. Ansha has told me a lot about you two, though maybe by then you two'll be busy with your own little one"
While embarrassed, it didn't feel wrong. Perhaps this was what put the idea in both their heads - that maybe they might want their own one day...
Terra knows that Beau is good with children, she's seen it with her own eyes. He can be nice, he can be strict, he can be fun, and is overall quite respectful towards them. And all of this is in spite of the fact that he never even knew his parents, never knew what it was like growing up in a loving home, and spent much of life trying to claw his way to the top.
She truly believes that if life had been kinder to him when he was little, he'd already be married with a family by the time they even met, he's just such a great catch.
I think a convo like this would probably take place as they're winding down for the night, laying in bed together watching the tele for a bit. He's noticed she's been a bit fidgety since dinner, but through years of knowing each other and having discussions on better communication, knows that she'll talk when she's ready.
"Beau, do you ever think of... having kids?"
It's definitely crossed his mind before, and it's something he definitely wants, but also something he was afraid of. If you mess up something at work, or hell, even the relationships with the people around you, a little bit of money or muscle makes it go away. But no amount of money of sending grunts to do your bidding can fully prepare you for parenthood.
Does he even have the capabilities for it? An awful man like him? And also, the pregnancy itself would put Terra out of commission for MONTHS.
He answers her question with a question,
"Do you?"
"Yeah. I've been waiting till I felt like we were ready, but I don't think that's a feeling that ever comes, or at least that's what my mom told me."
He stares at the ceiling in thought, imagining a life with a little one in tow. All the joy it brings but also all the struggles they might face. The danger this child would be in with his unsavory reputation, which of them the kid would stay with when Terra has to go back to Hoenn, trying to fit in another whole person into their already busy schedules.
But also getting to experience their first breath, first steps, first words. Coming home to a toddler excitedly running over to welcome him home. Sending his kid off on their first day of school. Teaching them how to throw their first pokeball.
It makes him so happy.
He turns to look at Terra who's resting on his chest,
"If that's the case...I think we're as ready as we'll ever be."

my favorite mental image of beau is him sitting on a couch tiredly (it is imperative that he is tired) trying to comfort his child that's just scream-crying into him at full volume
Google says maybe French does that too? Iâm from the US and I and a bunch of my friends do that, but also my family is from South Asia and so are that bunch of my friends so. Yeah. I do feel like âUncle Urbainâ or âMonsieur Urbainâ is probably the best?
Upon looking it up a little more, apparently french kids just call parent's friends by their first names? Though I feel like for Apollo who specifically is more Hoenn-aligned, he'd end up saying Uncle Urbain, Auntie Lida, Uncle Naveen
The other 2 kids are more Kalos-aligned, but seeing as Lida is Hoennian, I think she'd introduce herself (or even Terra can do the introduction since they're both Hoennian) as Auntie Lida. I think Oleander who is more attached to Lida will address her as 'Auntie Lida' but first name basis for Urbain and Naveen.
Alouette just calls by their first names for all 3

Once in a while when I want to feel something, I just think of the AU where Terra dies in the aftermath of Ange Floette
Lida is aware of her relationship with Corbeau and knew that he was easily one of her most trusted companions, but she never brought him up when interviewed or questioned, it just didn't seem like a good time nor did it seem relevant.
I wonder if it eats away at her when she hears rumors of him causing a ruckus at her memorial.
Apparently he was shouting about how this wasn't how she wanted to be remembered, removing gifts and offerings he claimed she never even liked, only for members of the public to think he was just mentally unwell, perhaps a side effect from the exposure to that much Mega Energy when it all went down at Prism Tower. Some even thought he was just a narcissist trying to make a beloved Champion's death all about himself, already having a bad reputation before all this to boot.
Perhaps she has an inkling he's right, and maybe that's why she hesitates to visit her memorial. Even she finds it difficult to look upon her statue, made in the image of her Champion persona, and form the connection that this is the same girl she had befriended months ago. All the times she sat in her room gossiping, snacking, even making comments about how "Champion Terra's just alright, she tries a little too hard" and wonders if that ever made Terra upset but unable to show it.
"I wish you tried even harder so you would still be here with us" Lida catches herself thinking, in disbelief that she'd blame her for her own death.
They had promised to do so many things once the Rogue Mega situation had been handled. Shopping, cafe hopping, makeovers, tag-teaming in the Royale.
She even promised Terra that they'd go out for her first taste of alcohol on her birthday, shortly before Terra had to go back to Hoenn.
It's too late for thoughts like that now.
She brings a beer for herself and the remainder of the Galarian scotch from Terra's collection that her parents decided to leave behind in Hotel Z.
She pours some of the scotch into a small glass and sets it on the base of her memorial statue, and takes her first sip of beer.
It tastes awful, she sees why Terra never liked it. She would have loved to see her grimacing face. She forces herself to drink the rest of it, ignoring the tears streaming down her face.
I'm a little on the fence on how the TerBeau kids should address Team MZ? For reference, I'm from Singapore so I'm very used to calling any older man/woman my uncle/auntie even though I'm not related to them, but idk if that'd be weird in the context of their universe as well as where most of my followers are from?
I also have to take into account that Terra's from Johto/Hoenn which the real world equivalent is Japan and I think they do pretty much the same thing, but Beau is presumably born and raised in the equivalent of France and idk wtf they do
But according to IG statistics (and most statistics in general across all platforms that I'm on), most people are from the US where that's not really the norm so... ? ? ? ?
I don't want to give off the wrong idea that they're related to Team MZ but god it feels weird to just have a kid be like "Hello Urbain"
Apollo taking to Urbain is so funny bc that kid is the literally manifestation of Terbeauâs best and worst traits. I get heâs a good kid and would probably have âlittle broâ energy but itâs still funny. Plus he has Beauâs face. :<
Yeah like, they have 2 other much more manageable kids but no he's saddled with the whirlwind of a human being that is Apollo. Imagine them dropping him off for babysitting and in one ear Beau tells him "Don't be afraid of disciplining him if he misbehaves, which he is highly likely" and in the other ear is Terra threatening him with "If my baby boy comes back crying, I'll kill you"
And It's true, him having little brother energy is probably accurate and honestly kinda funny in an ironic way because he's the eldest. Though maybe it's a good thing he hangs out with Urbain because he does need like a sort of chill older brother figure in his life. His father's semi-strict with him (though he knows his father still loves him), the grunts and Philippe all treat him as an extension of his father in a way so it's usually pretty formal, and his brother's much more mellow and tends to follow his lead.
Thinking about how the Terbeau kids take to Team MZ since Iâd imagine theyâd be the aunties and uncles.
TerBeau sometimes leaves their kids in their care when there's truly no one around/desperately want a day just to themselves/kids just want to hang out with them, so yeah they've definitely grown to view them as aunt/uncle figures.
While I don't think any of kids would have a dislike of any of them, they definitely have their preferences
I think Apollo would take to being around Urbain since he's the more adventurous one out of Team MZ, and perhaps even assisting him with Quasartico's work here and there. Though it's also worth noting that Urbain does try to keep him out of trouble because he's still a little afraid of his parents.
Lida's a sweetheart and I think Oleander would enjoy being around her as she's outwardly very friendly and warm, especially considering not everyone is nice to him at no fault of his own.
Alouette likes that Naveen is quiet and not as high energy as the other 2 on Team MZ, and thinks his clothing-making is fairly interesting. Perhaps he even lets her model some of the clothes he's making

Saw this on TikTok. Since Lumiose is based on France/Paris, I'm wondering if Corbeau ever helps Terra learn French? Imagine Terra asking him what certain phrases mean so she can get better at the language. Then one day she casually asks, "Hey Corbeau, how do you say 'A seal pushed me/A seal pushed me yesterday' in French?". He says it, then cue Corbeau realizing exactly what those sentences sound like in english. Humor ensues
oh he does and I have a couple comic ideas based on that premise, including one where he doesn't correct her because it's funny AKSLG:SAKG I don't want to give it away though cos I think I will eventually draw these
If Scolipede adores Apollo so much, if 5 year old Apollo really wanted to escape and would Scoli assist? Like a boy and his horse dashing on top of the city and its buildings.
I mean thatâs assuming the worm can get up there himself GKRKGKDKDK Would be hilarious if he could though, or if Apollo pilfered his Pokeball from his fatherâs satchel when he wasnât paying attention.
Imagine Beau getting reports that a big bug horse was running along the rooftops and he's like âwow thatâs weird, good thing mine isnât like thatâ and then he realizes he hasnât seen Scolipede for the better half of the afternoon. His 5 year old son is also missing. Hijinks ensue.
