When you're starting it's hard to tell when something is your fault or the fault of your beginner tools. "Does this stroke look like shit because this brush isn't suited for this or can I just not use it properly?" All you can do is keep practicing until you're confident that "no, this brush just isn't behave the way I expect it to" and you open brush editor, struggle with it being bugged and fleeing you screen, put your taskbar on the side of the screen because apparently that helps, and mess around with how the pressure, speed, and length of a stroke affect brush size until you have something that kind of behaves how you want it to.
