They have been protected with cries of 'respecting their culture' from every level in policing and government. This is not an attempt to stoke fear, but it is a reminder that these riots are not a shock to anyone tapped into Irish politics. These are the culminations of years of racism being ratified into the culture of the North of Ireland.
