Me dealing with my problems:

“I am protected by the color of my skin My words and actions, whether right or wrong, are justified because of who my ancestors are I see people like me speak their minds while someone else suffers the repercussions of their ignorance People who do not wish to educate themself on the privilege they have because of the color of their skin I am not these people, but they are like me My friends, the people I have grown to love shower in the blood bath of their peers and of ones who only look like them They are different people from the language they speak to food that they eat and the books that they read to the travels they take and to the God that they worship They are strangers at best trying to live their life in the Land of the Free But there is no Home of the Brave when they cannot walk down the street without fearing that will be the last fresh air that they breathe My friends, they plead for their lives and scream through tears in hopes that someone will take mercy on their soul They fear that they will not be heard through their last dying breath That six warning shots will land in their back with their hands in the air I fear for these friends And I will stand with them until I am no longer here for they are just as much people as me and deserve to live a life of peace and equality And that we as a future generation only have to speak of the fight And that the unjust systems will be put to rest instead of our friends One day I hope we as a world will embrace our colors And we will celebrate our ancestries And one day I hope we will all be protected together That some day, we will all be protected as one instead of protected as white”
