So hear me out

The JL have to deal with a ghost for the first time and it's a pain in the butt

Finally Batman shows up with some other hero's as backup and the ghost takes one look at him and is like "Oh Shit, my bad, please don't get us arrested" and dip through a portal

Everyone is very confused and concerned

When they reconvene to discuss what happened, Constantine pipes up saying "Im not surprised. With the claims you have on your soul, I'd be scared to mess with ya if I was them." Causing Batman to be even more confused and concerned.

Bats asks Constantine what he ment and he explains that B has 2 very strong and protective claims on his soul and so do the rest of the bats. It's strongest on him, Robin, and Red Hood.

"One of em's obviously Lady Gotham," Constantine explained, "I'd recognize it from a mile away. But the other one i can't quite put my finger on. It's a lot stronger so I assumed it was an ancestor or something."

This causes Bruce to go through his family records to see if anyone was into the occult or magic of some kind. Eventually he finds a "Daniel Nightingale", his Great Grandfather.

He was an odd man for his time. He was an eccentric investor who took his wife's last name. He outlived his wife and almost lived long enough to meet Bruce if Thomas hadn't cut ties with him due to some "creative differences".

Bruce, along with the rest of the family look into him and find so many dead ends (ha) that it's almost like Daniel appeared from nowhere. No hometown, no extended family, no nothing before he appears in Gotham.

Eventually this leads Bruce to check the family cemetery and in a moment of paranoia thinks to check the grave with an ex ray or scanner of some kind.

The grave is empty

It's been too long to know if this was another Jason situation or if his great grandfather faked his death in some way.

The bats eventually reach out to Constantine again and he checks out the grave,

"Oh fuck, yeah this is it mate," Constantine takes a step away, "You're grandad most likely became a ghost after he passed. A powerful one if the residual energy is anything to go by."

They get to a point where Constantine offers to summon Daniel's ghost so the bats can just talk to him and get off his ass about it.

After gathering the materials, Batman, his brood of bats and birds, and a few other JL members gather in one of the largest training rooms they have on the Watchtower because Batman insisted they be cautious about who might come through.

The summoning circle glows a Lazarus green and everyone is tense as a large being starts to materialize. Long spindly pitch black limbs, speckled with starts, and surrounding the head an aurora and an ice head piece or crown that makes it look like it has horns. Once the body has fully materialized, 4 neon green eyes open and look down at the gathered League.

Constantine is in shock and the rest of the league is tensed and ready for a fight.

"Y-Your Majesty?! I- I wasn't..I didn't mean-" Constantine stammers and kneels before the being.

"J̶o̴h̶n̷ ̴C̴o̸n̸s̴t̸a̵n̸t̷i̷n̵e̷" it's voice is smooth and echoes across the room. " N̵o̵ ̸n̴e̷e̷d̷ ̵f̷o̷r̴ ̵c̵o̸n̵c̵e̸r̶n̷,̷ ̴I̴ ̶a̴m̴ ̵e̶x̴a̶c̸t̷l̷y̸ ̵w̴h̴o̶ ̶y̸o̶u̵ ̴i̵n̶t̸e̷n̶d̴e̵d̶ ̷t̶o̷ ̵s̶u̶m̷m̵o̵n̵," It glances at the bats and Batman steps forward.

"You.. you were Daniel Nightingale." Batman states rather than asks. The being smiles in lieu of an answer and begins to shrink and change shape.

It settles on the form of a man, a man that looks strikingly like Bruce and aside from the pointed ears, white hair, and Lazarus green eyes, he looks just like the old photos of Daniel Nightingale.

But in those stories ... his name doesn't really fit. What Eldritch God would be called Danny? Even Phantom isn't that scary.

Then I realized that if ghost speak gets translated wrongly and Danny said his name in ghost speak ... wouldn't it be translated wrong too?

And Daniel means God is my Judge in Hebrew while Phantom of course is a kind of ghost.

So,

The Justice League has summoned Danny and he doesn't realize that he's in his Eldritch form. His skin is black and filled with galaxies constantly being born and dying. His eyes are two endless black holes. His hair is the flash of the big bang. He's terrifying and awe-inspiring.

As he speaks, it sounds like millions of beings screaming in agony before breathing their last breath.

And then Danny says "Hi! My name is Danny Phantom, the Ghost King, how can I help you?"

But what the JL hears through the translation is: "I am the Judge of Gods and the restless Dead, Ruler of the Infinite, for what purpose hath thee summoned me?"

Danny: Huh? Oh, yeah! They were all donated to me by some of my subjects after my coronation.

Damian: You sit on a throne... Of charitably donated bones?

Danny: Yeah? Where else would I get a bunch of bones?

Damian: The cliche is usually a throne made out of the bones of one's enemies, is it not?

Danny is in Gotham (yes, that Gotham, different universe, long story) to finish his education before moving on with his life—or afterlife—and eventually ascending to High King status. It’s a good reveal AU. He still has his parents. He still has his friends. Clockwork just strongly suggested that if he wanted to rule the Infinite Realms one day, maybe he should get some cross-dimensional academic experience first.

So now he’s here.

The problem? Everyone is rich. Not “my dad owns a company” rich. More like “we have generational trauma and private islands” rich. Danny tries being friendly. Smiles. Makes conversation. Offers help with homework. It does absolutely nothing. These people only care about connections.

Which would be funny—if it weren’t so isolating—because they have no idea he is, objectively, the single most powerful networking opportunity in the multiverse.

So yeah. He’s a little lonely.

Enter Damian.

One of Damian’s brothers (who will not be named but absolutely thinks he’s hilarious) jokes that Damian has never had a normal civilian friendship in his life. That if he had to, he wouldn’t even know where to start. He offhandedly gestures at Danny like, there, that one looks harmless.

It’s a joke.

Unfortunately, Damian takes it as a challenge.

Not because Danny is a “target.” He isn’t. Damian just fully decides he will prove he can form a normal, healthy, civilian friendship. Out of spite.

There are misunderstandings, but somehow, despite everything, they start… getting along.

And Damian, internally victorious, decides to present Danny to his family as evidence that he can, in fact, maintain a normal friendship.

Danny is delightful.

He charms Alfred. He debates with Tim. He listens to Bruce. He somehow gets Jason to laugh. He and Dick vibe immediately. He treats Damian like an equal without even trying.

For months, the consensus is clear:

Danny is the only normal person at this table.

And then they find his admission essay.

Titled:

He is literally a blob, maybe one developing eye or maybe he is blind and has a little antenna. When he grows into a more mature eldritch being it will either fall off when his third eye develops or continue growing to eventually be used as a lure like an angler fish.

Due to cosmic shenanigans Constantine is watching over Danny during the equivalent of tummy time for the baby eldritch. The Flash being like he's so ugly, where can I get one? He keeps poking an annoyed Danny who decides he's had enough and inhales like Kirby and their speedster is gone.

Constantine: this is why you don't poke baby eldritch monsters, let alone one that's annoyed by you Speedsters who knows better than to mess with time.

Baby blob Danny: *drooling*

Constantine: don't worry, he's not eating him he's just using him as a teething toy. Once we burp him he'll throw the speedster right up and everything else he ate to chew on.

When someone is genuinely grieving they are sending emotions that are an essential part of a forming ghosts core. Maybe it even helps them come to terms with their death and have less hang ups about it, but my main point is that Danny would see Tim mourn his friends and go "man I wish that were me"

Tim: Kon? Is that you?

Danny flees as he blushes because he was able to taste the depth of this guys feelings for "Kon" and actively ignores how he hasn't been mourned.

Nurse: Did you?

Danny: Yes. Like nothing could ever hurt.

Nurse: That's lovely. How long have you two been together?

Danny: Oh, we aren't together.

Nurse: Ah, a friends-with-benefits situation then?

Danny: Nope. I don't even know his name.

Nurse: Oh.

Danny: Yeah.

Nurse: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to assume. The way you were brought in and the way you're speaking about him, I just thought-

Danny: No. No. Its alright. It is confusing. See he broke into my house and-

Nurse: He WHAT?!

Danny: To be fair, he was scammed by a false rental ad and was given false paperwork to prove it. They even gave him a copy of the key, so...I mean, the good news is that my home security system isn't deadly. The bad is that it mistook me for an intruder and shocked me too when it went to tase the guy. He was able to get up first and took care of me while the ambulance arrived. So sweet.

Nurse:.... I'm going to put this conversation down as "side effect of strong pain meds"

Two doors down:

Damian dubiously: The garden gnome tazed you? Maybe I should gather a report for Father when you're not on pain medication.

Tim: NO, I'M TELLING YOU THE TRUTH. THE GARDEN DECORATION AT MY NEW HOUSE IS ALIVE AND ITS COMING FOR ME!

Damian: Riggggghhht. And what about the man who was brought to the ER with you?

Tim seriously: He's the King of the Gnomes. He tried to distract me with his pretty face and sexy body, but he plans to take over Gotham with his Gnomes of Doom.

Danny Phantom: no.

JL: what? Why?

Danny: I have yet to receive confirmation from the gods that this action will—*glowing green brick falls on his face, a small sticky note falling off*

dennis, who is autistic and never understood gender roles or ‘being’ a specific gender.

he has always felt like ‘both’ or connected to both.

when he goes on t, he thought it would fix everything. oh, now i can be a man, just like i thought i was missing out on when i growing up.

but it doesnt solve everything. he likes how deep his voice got, the slight bit of facial hair, but he loves dressing cute and feminine.

he confides in trinity, and she takes him shopping immediately.

sometimes he wears hoodies and flannels, and sometimes he dresses in cute blouses and even skirts.

trinity just starts giggling, hard. there are practically tears in her eyes when he finally asks, “what’s so funny?”

like first grocery trip and she buys a normal amount for herself— three tops probably. And she gets busy they rippen and dennis notices that they’re almost going bad so he eats them all real quick, unable to let anything be thrown out when he can eat them just fine

and thats fine, she buys three more — and this time has plans for them, but then they’re gone quicker

she buys 5, as soon as they rippen gone

6: vanished almost instantly not one at a time not a half sitting in the fridge after some toast no left over gauc to be shared no evidence that she even bought them except the peels and pits

They both try to sneak out in the middle of the night to get snacks at the same time and bump into each other

Trinity made Dennis watch brokeback mountain (he was DEVASTATED.)

When Dennis is drunk he wonders off, however Trinity lays down wherever (they both manage to lose each other)

They annoy each other by walking into the others room for no reason and don’t shut the door

They have “sleepovers” where they watch movies and sleep in the same bedroom

Trinity likes to lurk behind corners waiting for Dennis to walk by and scare him

Trinity made Dennis watch criminal minds and he LOVES it

They make each other go to the store with them cuz it’s boring alone

Argue a lot but always go back to normal without either of them apologizing
