Long post ahead.
How I want think the next three tomes of acotar are going to go.
I’ve been thinking more about it, and it just makes so much sense for Elriel/Emorie to be the POVs of the next books.
Everyone already knows Elriel is next, or at least they think Elain/Lucien or Gwyn/Azriel, so no one would consider either of their POVs to be unexpected. But then you’ve got Mor, whose story has been sidelined since ACOWAR, whose romantic interest was introduced in ACOFAS and then reintroduced and deeply rooted in ACOSF, who has a very deep bond with Azriel, and who can’t be erased from the Elriel book due to that connection with him.
And I’ve always said that I wanted an Emorie book really badly, but that I really doubted SJM would write one, because it would obviously be a sapphic romance, and she hasn’t done anything like that before. I don’t even know if she would be able to, but that’s a conversation for another day.
It makes so much sense. No one would expect a Mor pov in the next book, much less an Emerie one. Obviously, a case can be made about a Vassa pov also being unexpected, but given the fact that Lucien is expected to get a book, and knowing that a romance between the two of them is being set up, I wouldn’t really say that her pov is as unexpected as my dear Emorie.
Obviously, this could all be wishful thinking on my part, because I really, really love Emorie. They are top 3 in my acotar couple rankings (only below Elriel and Feysand), and I think their story could close a lot of plot points that were left open with acosf.
1. The whole Illyrian situation, with the creation of the Valkyries, and how the Bat Boys are trying to make the camps and armies more inclusive. I’ve said it before, but Emerie is the only one whose pov would be acceptable while handling that point. She’s the only female Illyrian we’ve fully got to know, and she’s a trained soldier. Who better?
2. The whole Mor/Eris plot, that is deeply connected to the Autumn Court, and therefore connected to Lucien and the mating bond. By having Mor’s pov, and maybe even Lucien’s (I wouldn’t really be against part 1 being Elriel, part 2 Emorie, and part 3 Vassien, with the three stories all interconnected), we would get to know what happened with Eris, we would get the whole heir plot in the Autumn Court, and Mor could be essential in the breaking of the Elucien mating bond, in case Lucien’s parentage has anything to do with it, given that we know his father is a piece of shit and he wouldn’t be above calling for a blood duel between Azriel and Lucien if he knew about the Elriel relationship. Mor, with her truth powers and her connection to both Helion and Azriel (plus we know she feels guilty for having acted the way she did towards Azriel, and this could be her way of apologizing, not that I believe she needs to), could play a very important part in keeping the blood duel from happening.
3. Girl, I just want my little lesbians to be happy. Is it too much to ask for that?
If we didn’t have the information about the length of the parts, I would say that including 3 couples in one book would be a lot. But knowing that each part is long, and that they are being divided into whole different tomes, I think it makes a lot of sense. Like a Tower of Dawn and Empire of Storms sort of situation.
It would be perfect if we got Elriel’s part first, because they are the main couple out of the three, and their romance would have to happen before Emorie’s and Vassien’s for it to make sense. Then we would get the Emorie/Vassien book on the 12th, with the knowledge of everything that happened in Elriel’s book. I truly don’t believe there’s enough plot for a whole book for Emorie, nor Vassien, and including both romances in one tome could be a perfect solution.
The plots could be divided something like this:
1st tome: Elriel.
We get the exploration of Elain’s Seer powers, her connection to Truth-Teller after having wielded it and having killed the King of Hybern with it. We get Azriel’s powers and his backstory. The connection of Truth-Teller to Gwydion and the Dusk Court. The whole Dusk Court plot could be resolved in this part. We get the seeds of a Vassien romance, and we reintroduce Mor as an important character, seeing her relationship with Azriel through his pov, even some comment about Azriel noticing how she looks at Emerie, or her helping to train the Valkyries. We’ve got a connection to Vassien through Elain, and a connection to Emorie through Azriel. The main focus would be their powers and the Dusk Court, and obviously their romance. We end the book with them together, but with the mating bond still unbroken.
2nd tome, 1st part: Emorie.
We learn about Mor’s powers and what she has been doing while she was away. We get into the whole situation with her father, maybe he comes for the first time to Velaris. She decides to take her frustrations out by training the Valkyries, and then she gets closer and closer to Emerie. We set up the Illyrian plot here, as well as dipping into the Koschei situation. Mor and Emerie get close, we get Elriel sprinkled here and there, Mor notices, Mor approves. She comes out to Azriel, she tells him to go for Elain because they are obviously in love. Maybe Feyre tells her about Lucien’s true father, and we already know she has a tight relationship with Helion, so maybe she starts to get closer to Lucien and Vassa, because she’s truly curious, because the Inner Circle want to keep an eye on them, and because she has a connection to the human queens. Emerie fights to free the female Illyrians, she and the Valkyries become a true army, and the Inner Circle ask them to fight in the war that is brewing against Koschei. Emorie fall in love, and the first moves against Koschei are made.
2nd tome, part 2: Vassien.
We learn about what Vassa, Lucien, and Jurian are doing. We get Lucien’s thoughts on the mating bond, how he feels something is wrong with it, and how he feels really happy when he’s by Vassa’s side. We fully submerge into the Koschei plot. Mor helps them prepare to fight against him, but they obviously need a big army. The Valkyries and the Illyrians agree to help. Maybe Lucien talks to Eris and tries to get the support of the Autumn Court. Eris agrees only after he realizes Lucien loves Vassa, and he does it to try and apologize for Jesminda’s death. We get Eris rising to power and becoming the High Lord of the Autumn Court (girl, I don’t want this, but it’s so obviously going to happen). Their father gets hold of the fact that Lucien has a mate and that neither of them wants to accept the mating bond. He forces him to blood-duel Azriel. In the process, he finally learns he’s Helion’s son. When Helion learns this information, he decides he will help against Koschei. Vassien fall in love, and the Elucien mating bond is broken.
3rd tome, multi pov.
We get the fight against Koschei, we resolve everything that was left open. We get the three couples, plus Feysand and Nessian. Idk what else could happen, I’m not the author of these books 😭.
Obviously I took this out of my ass and my delusions, but tell me it wouldn’t be perfect.
Already manifesting for it to happen. Please sjm give me my dear elriel, emorie and vassien 🙏🏻
(I just realized I added vassien randomly through my rant. It is what it is).
