Posted the (edited) first chapter of my LU child!Wild fanfic on AO3!

Summary:

The last thing Link remembered: he went to bed an ordinary 6-year-old in his family home in Castle Town.

He woke up a 6-year-old in a world 112 years older than him, where the Calamity had already hit and then recently been defeated... by himself? He didn't know what happened, or how, or why. Luckily, he had eight heroes with weird nicknames on his side, there to help him figure out and fix whatever was going on, one age at a time—and gradually heal his childhood wounds in the process.

Or: my take on the kid!Wild and Wild-meets-the-Chain tropes, with a bit of a twist in that he is mentally a child as well—memories included.

Notes:

As of writing this, I am almost 40k words into this fic, and most of that was originally planned for the FIRST chapter... In other words: it's going to be a long one. Arc 1 starts here!

Content warning for the first two chapters: descriptions of injuries and pain of a child (Wild). There is a lot of comfort and caretaking/healing very soon after, though. This will be the worst of his wounds for several chapters (and then the physical whump will continue).

Chapter 1 is 5k words.

I’m replaying TOTK and realized that honestly, this Link gets more guidance in the tutorial zone than BOTW Link did. There’s all the helpful constructs around, who say they’ve been tasked with teaching, answering questions, and sharing knowledge that the listener might not have… particularly survival skills. I wonder if Zelda had a hand in that—if, before she left, she wanted to do everything she could to make sure Link had a source of information to turn to if he lost his memory again.

Hear me out: trans Harry Potter hearing from one of the older students that Snape provides trans students with the magical equivalent of HRT, probably similar ingredients as polyjuice potion. Harry, hitting the hellscape of puberty, takes a leap of faith and braves his mutually spiteful relationship with Snape to ask for some of that gender affirming care. To his surprise, Snape is really nice about it and becomes a point of safety. Harry starts getting daily potion deliveries :).

Probably gonna regret sharing this, but I made some severitus fanart…

Perhaps Harry doesn’t rly look like Harry and Snape looks like a wrongly angled stick, and I didn’t bother drawing hands yet, and I literally JUST picked up a pencil and started drawing again yesterday so I’m rusty and tbh was never that good anyway, but you get the vibe.

Little Harry wants someone to help him, to get him out of the cupboard. His magic sends the equivalent of a pager ping to Snape’s wand because Snape swore an oath to protect him, and I like the idea that magic could alert him to Harry’s mistreatment. Snape is Slightly Unsettled at hearing a child’s whisper of “please help me…” come from his wand out of the blue.

Anyway might write a fic with this idea instead, but thought I’d share my lil drawing.
