Martin Goldblum has work in a new show opening April 20th at The Hudson Guild.  Called “Comedies and Tragedies” the work celebrates Gay Pride.  Martin’s piece features poet Elizabeth Bishop and her partner Lota de Macedo Soares.

A member of the groundbreaking collective of SoHo galleries at the Phoenix Art Gallery, (Red Grooms was a member,) John’s work falls firmly in the American figurative camp.

Vincent is a New York artist through and through who works primarily with oils or watercolors and mainly urban subject matter.

The first work is part of “Small Works Baruch,” a juried show by Richard Timperio, Director, Sideshow Gallery, Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  ​ Selected local New York Artists include Photographers, Painters, Printmakers, and more.   The exhibition will take place March 26-May 7, 2015 with an opening reception Thursday, March 26, 2015, 6-8pm.

Gallery Hours: Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and Thursday, noon to 7:00 p.m. The Mishkin Gallery is located at 135 E. 22nd Street at Lexington Avenue.

Jon is a sketchy artist creating vibrant scenes of city life, mostly around the many parks in Manhattan and the boroughs.

Myron Heise, “Self Portrait with Axe,” oil on canvas, 20x16″, 1985

Myron Heise vivid portraits of street life and himself formed a movement with Tad Day and Phillip Sherrod that, at one point they called “feelism.”  They also called themselves the original “street painters.”

Geoffrey Gneuhs, Morning at Cordes, oil painting.

Geoffrey Gneuhs is representational and figurative painter of portraiture, cityscapes, and still lifes, with a sometimes religious inclination. 

Geoffrey’s work hangs in the 75th anniversary show running through April 11th at the Sylvia Wald and Po Kim gallery.

Violet Baxter, “Night Lights III,” 2010, 36x40, oil on linen.

Violet Baxter paints views from windows, capturing the life below in representational finesse.  After doing so for 2 decades from Union Square she moved her studio to Long Island City, offering her a new vantage point at the nexus of “the highways connecting to the Queensboro Bridge, the El trains, Silvercup Studios building and its sign, a newly renovated red building, a school with its brightly lit yard, smokestacks, all under a big sky.” 

Valerie Mendelson, “Yellow Ribbon,”

Valerie Mendelson is a painter of still life, portraits and landscapes.  All done in an assured figurative manner with just a touch of abstraction.
