Violet Baxter paints views from windows, capturing the life below in representational finesse. After doing so for 2 decades from Union Square she moved her studio to Long Island City, offering her a new vantage point at the nexus of “the highways connecting to the Queensboro Bridge, the El trains, Silvercup Studios building and its sign, a newly renovated red building, a school with its brightly lit yard, smokestacks, all under a big sky.”
In addition to other venues, Violet’s work is on exhibit with the Federation in their 75th Anniversary show running through April 11th at the Sylvia Wald and Po Kim Gallery in NYC.
