I was 48 when I started my apprenticeship to become a tattoo artist. I was 50 when I married the love of my life.

She is 72. After a very rough go of things, she is now with someone who cherishes her (met him three years ago!), goes on bucket-list road trips multiple times a year, founded two nonprofits to help people who have been through similar struggles, and feels fulfilled.

Friendly reminder that when Steve Rogers was awoken in the modern century, for him it had only been a few weeks since he had lost Bucky.

Friendly reminder that Steve Rogers is only in his mid-twenties and still does everything he can to take care of those around him. 

Friendly reminder that Steve Rogers has PTSD and severe depression, as shown in several of the movies and comics per his suicidal tendencies. 

Friendly reminder that almost everyone Steve Rogers knew in 1943 was dead when he woke up, and he was faced with the ideal that he had outlived everyone he loved.

Friendly reminder that Steve Rogers was also the victim of childhood bullying in both the comics and the MCU. He mentioned the bullying to Peggy in First Avenger when he was pointing out all the places he’d been beat up but the comics were even worse when it came to graphic depiction of his abuse as there are panels of him being held down and beat up by a gang of kids in Steve Rogers: Super Soldier and panels of a group of boys throwing a brick at him and hitting him on the back of his head, causing him to bleed and knocking him down face-first in cement in Remender’s run.

Friendly reminder that in addition to being a veteran of one of the most brutal and inhumane wars of all-time, for which he served in special forces so he wasn’t spared any of the more horrific content, he also spent his childhood knee deep in the Great Depression.

Friendly reminder that before the serum he grappled with: asthma, scoliosis, heart arrhythmia, partial deafness, anemia, high blood pressure, sinusitis, frequent colds, and had a history of scarlet fever. In short, he’s spent his adulthood fighting battles, this is true, but he also spent his childhood fighting, just a different type of battle… the battle for his health.

Friendly reminder that in addition to PTSD and depression he is also grappling with a severe case of survivors guilt. Remember he hand-picked the Howling Commandos. Including Bucky. i.e. Bucky went back into war because Steve asked and then Steve was forced to watch him fall from the train.
