Prompts & works should be related to aspec experiences in some way - including but not limited to aromantic- & asexual-spectrum identities; queerplatonic & other relationship types; and anything that ‘queers’ the concept of love & sex. We’re not going to police this - if you think it counts, it counts. If you’re going to be mad that a relationship that ‘appears straight’ may appear in this event, this is not the event for you.

Suggestive, NSFW & whump content is totally allowed.

Do the characters in my prompt/work have to be canonically aspec?

No! Headcanons and AUs are highly encouraged!

Do the characters in my prompt/work have to identify as a specific aspec label?

No! Identity is a weird soup - they might not even be aware of any aspec concepts at all! Be as specific or as vague as you like with the character’s aspec identity.

Prompting

Prompts can be submitted on the AO3 collection between 24th September - 22nd October, by pressing the “Prompt Form” button. Submitting a prompt ‘signs you up’ for the event, but you don't need to have ‘signed up’ (submitted a prompt) to claim & fill others’ prompts.

How many prompts can I submit?

Submit up to 10 prompts. You are encouraged to use all 10! The more prompts you give, the more likely someone will be inspired by one of them!

What characters can I prompt about?

Any character from anything that’s been streamed on CR, including oneshots, Candela Obscura, and Daggerheart; or, either of the animated shows. You can also prompt crossovers, as long as at least one of the characters is from a CR property.

Someone else has already prompted the same character/headcanon/relationship as I was going to prompt!

That's okay - submit that prompt anyway! There'll be differences in what exactly you're looking for. If someone comes along and likes both of the prompts, they can gift the same work to both of you - or, if they really love them, they could create two entirely new works!

How should I format my prompt?

(fields with asterisks are required; this information will also be visible on the page while you prompt) - Title* - keep it to 5 words maximum. - Fandom - tag it by campaign using the canonical tags (eg. Critical Role: Campaign 2 - The Mighty Nein (Web Series) for C2, or Critical Role: Exandria (Web Series) for EXUs) to help people find prompts that interest them. If there is no canonical tag (eg. for Daggerheart miniseries), leave this blank. - Characters* - the main character(s) you want the work to focus on. - Relationships - the main relationship(s) (& or /) you want the work to focus on, if any. - Ratings* - tick if you’d be happy to receive a work with each of these ratings - eg. if you don’t want NSFW content for that prompt, do not tick Mature or Explicit. - Description* - A sentence or two about what you’re looking for. Keep in mind that a creator does not have to follow this exactly - and that more specific prompts can work better to inspire people. Claiming

Do I need to have ‘signed up’ to claim & fill prompts?

‘Signing up’ just means submitting a prompt - and, no, you don't need to!

Do I have to claim prompts before I fulfil them?

Yes, you need to have claimed a prompt before AO3 will let you post a new work to fulfil it, but you don’t have to have claimed it before this point (you can claim and then immediately fulfil). However, claiming prompts in advance can be helpful, so others can see which prompts already have someone interested in them. Try to prioritise claiming prompts you're most likely to fill, to avoid disappointing recipients.

How many prompts can I claim?

As many as you like! And there’s no shame in dropping a claim at any time.

Someone else has already claimed a prompt I wanted to claim!

If you're inspired, claim it anyway! Create it anyway! This is very much a two cakes situation - nobody's going to complain about getting more fanworks!

Creating & posting

What are the requirements for a creation?

Minimum of 100 words, a doodle, or a rough equivalent in whatever medium you choose - eg. gifsets! edits! moodboards! meta! anything that can be uploaded onto AO3!  There’s guidance on uploading images to AO3 here - please do not use Imgur, since its images cannot be viewed in the UK. There are no maximums!

Do I have to follow the prompt down to the letter?

You should endeavour to follow the spirit of the prompt, and do not include any of the prompter’s DNWs. However, we understand that your creative whims may lead you to strange and unexpected places! For instance, feel free to include characters that aren’t listed in the prompt.  In the worst case scenario, if the receiver doesn’t like what you’ve made for them, they can always refuse the gift - but there will likely be others out there who do like what you’ve created!

How do I post my fill for a prompt?

Make sure you’ve hit ‘claim’ on the prompt in the collection. Then:

Go to “Claims” on the left side of your AO3 dashboard, and hit ‘fulfil’ on the prompt you want to post. 

Or, when you’re creating a new work, your claims will appear under Associations, for you to select.

When posting a claim, AO3 will automatically add the work to the collection, and will add a note about the event and the recipient in the beginning Notes section, but it will not automatically add the prompt.

Can I post publicly about my creations? What about getting help from a beta reader?

Yes, and yes! If you’re posting about a finished work on Tumblr, feel free to tag us so we can reblog you.

Are there any other rules?

Just to respect other participants! Please don’t bash or be negative about any ships or headcanons you don't like. Part of the fun of fandom is seeing the broad range of possible interpretations, and I'd always rather foster a sense of community rather than opposition.

Make sure to leave a comment on works created for you (even if it’s just a quick “Thank you!”).

Nope! Submitting prompts and creating works are separate, and while many people do both, you don't have to do one to be able to do the other.
