ââââââââ âď¸ âľ heat drives people crazy.
pairing : alexia putellas x fem!reader. summary : seems after few drinks, the whole team are talking about every situation where you and alexia were in love but didnât see it. warnings : reader referred as ânaranjaâ, alexia being grumpy, whole team making fun of them. word count : 2.4k.
Barcelona, Saturday, just before lunchtime. Sun hung high in the sky, hotter than ever, kind of weather that practically demanded cold drinks and good food. That was exactly why Barcelona Femeni squad had found themselves aboard a yacht once again, celebrating every trophy they had collected throughout the season. It was a private gathering, far from cameras and reporters, with nearly the entire team present.
Patri, Kika, and Cata? Probably on their tenth beer by now. . . Or well past that number, Clara and Vicky were busy filming TikToks, Aitana and Sydney sat together with Irene, deeply invested in whatever piece of gossip had captured their attention, Claudia and Esmee had already decided that repeatedly jumping into the freezing water was the best way to spend the afternoon. Poor Alexia, meanwhile, had somehow once again found herself in her usual role as team's designated mother, keeping an eye on everyone as if they needed constant supervision, which, judging by the state of the yacht, they absolutely did.
And you? You were stretched out across one of loungers taking advantage of rare opportunity to work on your tan during what could only be described as almost summer.
If you weren't familiar with european weather, you would have assumed the continent was moments away from spontaneously combusting. Yet, everyone around you seemed to consider this temperature perfectly normal.
Turning your head and opening your eyes was easy enough, sliding your sunglasses down bridge of your nose wasn't much harder. Actually forcing yourself to sit up so you could reapply sunscreen, however? That was a completely different story, a low groan escaped your lips before you could stop it.
Your entire body felt heavy, exhausted after an endless season that had demanded everything from you. Every muscle seemed determined to keep you exactly where you were, stretched out beneath the sun, doing absolutely nothing. Sure, by end of the day an inevitable sunburn and irritated skin would remind you just how stupid that decision was. If you made it.
âEh! Naranja girl.â One voice caught your attention.
Once again, your attempt to sit up ended in failure. With a sigh, you simply pulled your sunglasses off, only to find Kika standing nearby. Her face was slightly flushed from the sun, freckles far more visible than usual. One thing you had learned over years of friendship was that the Portuguese midfielder's freckles always seemed to multiply whenever temperatures climbed high enough.
âAlexia could help you with that, couldn't she?â She said, voice dripping with barely concealed sarcasm and amusement.
Ugh. You and Alexia really should have kept things a secret. Although, honestly, that idea felt ridiculous for two very obvious reasons. First, practically everyone already knew. . Except the two of you, apparently. Second, there was no universe in which it would have stayed a secret for long.
As retaliation, you snatched the beer bottle from Kika's hand and took a sip. You didn't even like it but was either that or one of Marta's drinks and experience had taught you that those came with consequences. âMy girlfriend is busy looking after children!â you replied, gesturing toward the Spanish captain. Across yacht, Alexia appeared to be attempting the impossible: preventing Catalina from somehow falling into water.
A task made considerably harder by the fact that Cata was laughing hysterically while balancing far too close to the edge.
âVenga, Catalina Coll!â Alexia called out, voice carrying that unmistakable authoritative tone that had captains, teammates and apparently even goalkeepers falling into line.
Almost immediately, Catalina quieted down and did exactly as she had been told. Gracias DĂos.
A few moments later Alexia made her way over to where you and Kika were sitting, a long, exhausted sigh escaped her as she claimed one of loungers and practically collapsed onto it. At this point, your girlfriend looked tired not only physically, but mentally as well. The season had been demanding on everyone, but especially on her and you couldn't help worrying, though that was a conversation better saved for when the two of you were alone.
âCariĂąo, need help?â she asked, already referring to the sunscreen. Her thick Catalan accent still lingered in every english sentence, despite how much more comfortable she had become with the language over recent months.
âYou need to be careful with sunburns, come here. I'll help you.â Before you could protest, she had already moved beside your lounger, sunscreen bottle in hand.
You loved this side of her, the way she cared not only for you, but for everyone around her. Especially younger players. Alexia had always been like that, long before you started dating, long before the two of you had stopped being complete idiots and finally acknowledged what had been painfully obvious to everyone else.
âHey, don't worry about it, sĂ? I can handle it myself,â you attempted to argue.
Immediately, Alexia pressed her index finger against your lips, stopping any further objections before they could leave your mouth. âStop that, vale? Let me take care of you for once.â
As if she didn't do that every chance she got! That was simply who Alexia Putellas was. Her love language had always been acts of service, and honestly, you weren't about to complain. âHow do you even manage this, hmm?â She murmured. âI like tanning, but my skin just turns red instead of actually tanning.â
One hand carefully spread sunscreen along the base of your spine while the other reached for more product but nearby, Kika remained suspiciously silent.
You knew that look. She was waiting.
Waiting for the perfect opportunity to say something sarcastic, ridiculous, or embarrassingly suggestive. Last time her personal record without making some sort of comment was eight minutes.
This interaction was already approaching seven. A new record seemed unlikely.
Unable to help yourself, you let out a content sigh as Alexia continued applying sunscreen. Honestly, you thanked every higher power available for blessing you with a girlfriend who was not only beautiful but impossibly kind. And unfortunately for both of you, Kika finally decided she had suffered in silence for long enough.
âJesus Christ,â She muttered dramatically, throwing her head back. âyou two make me sick.â
Alexia didn't even glance in her direction.
âThen stop looking.â She had a pout on lips.
That only made Kika laugh harder. âVICKY! Come here, now!â
Vicky immediately abandoned whatever TikTok she had been filming, curiosity won far too easily among footballers and within seconds she was making her way across deck while Kika waited with an expression of someone about to present evidence in a criminal investigation. âWhat happened?â She asked.
Your girlfriend's expression was soft, focused, completely unaware of how ridiculously affectionate she looked. It was pretty. You loved her.
Vicky stared. Then at you. Then at Alexia. Then back at you. âOh.â From her lips, just came this out.
âExactly,â Kika said. âLook at this.â She waved a hand dramatically toward Alexia. âOur captain. Alexia Putellas. A woman known for being low-profile. Introverted. Someone who hates being center of attention unless football forces her to be!â
Patri joined the chaos and somehow, that only made everything worse, the midfielder stayed firmly on her body even in that heat. You had no idea how she managed it.
Everyone else looked like they were slowly melting under sun, yet Patri looked completely unaffected. Confident. Comfortable. Almost like the temperature was a personal challenge she refused to lose.
You were fairly sure that was just how she existed. âSee?â Patri said, suddenly pointing at both of you. âThis reminds me of that time when these twoââ Before she could finish, Irene appeared. Of course she did.
Carrying a margarita like she had been summoned by gossip itself! You rolled your eyes as one by one, more players began to drift closer. Claudia. Aitana. Even Esmee! Still slightly wet from her last jump into sea.
A whole circle formed naturally around your loungers, like gossip had a gravitational pull of its own, at the center of it all, you and Alexia.
Alexia was already regretting every life decision that had led to this moment. She hated it.
âSo I was saying,â Irene went on âthis reminds me of that one time when these two were already acting like a couple but refusing to admit it.â
âI beg your pardonâ you interrupted.
Irene raised a hand, like she probably did with her son at home when he needed to behave.
âNo no, let her cook.â Kika replied. She was so invested at it, maybe thatâs what she wanted the whole time and you just wanted to enjoy sun, a book and staying in silence.
âThis reminds me of that time they shared a table during team lunch,â Vicky pointed out, a proud smile tugging at corners of her lips. âThey acted like it was completely normal but Ale kept stealing olives from your plate and you kept stealing meat from hers.â
The comment landed in the middle of the circle like a perfectly aimed pass. . . For a second, nobody reacted. Then silence broke almost immediately. Of course it did.
Because now everyone had a new detail to obsess over.
Vicky leaned back slightly, clearly satisfied with herself, as if she had just unlocked a particularly valuable piece of evidence in a case everyone else was already convinced about while your girlfriend let out a long, tired breath, the kind that came from someone who had officially accepted defeat for the day.
âThat was just lunch.â She said, though her voice lacked any real conviction.
Patri immediately scoffed. âNothing about you two is ever âjustâ anything.â
You rubbed your face slowly, already feeling the situation slipping further out of your control with every passing second. It did.
âCan we talk about that time a girl tried to flirt with Naranja at the club?â Aitana finally spoke up, breaking her usual quiet observation of the chaos. âAnd Alexia looked like she was about to explode. I remember her taking five straight shots of vodka just to survive watching it happen.â
The circle erupted instantly, as if Aitana had just dropped the final missing piece of a story everyone already half knew.
Esmee jumped in right after, fully committed to escalating it further. âNaranja almost left the bar with herâ She added, laughing. âBut then our capi suddenly, faked a faint.â That was enough. Right?!
The entire group burst into laughter at same time, sound spilling across the yacht without any attempt at restraint. Even those who had not been there for the story were laughing purely out of secondhand embarrassment and admiration for how absurd it all sounded.
âThat did not happen like that. Liar.â she muttered, Alexia buried her face in one hand.
Kika immediately pointed at her. âIt absolutely did.â
âIt was one shot.â
âFive capi!â
âOne.â
âFive emotional support shots!â Irene corrected, barely able to speak through her laughter.
Claudia, who had been quietly listening until then, suddenly leaned forward with a knowing smile as if she had been waiting for her own moment. âOh, if we are exposing things today.â She began, earning immediate attention from the circle.
âI remember when Alexia refused to leave training until she saw Naranja finish physio after that knock on her ankle.â A few players immediately gasped and laughed at same time, already anticipating where the story was going. âShe literally sat there for an hour pretending it was âjust paperworkâ with the staff.â Claudia continued, shaking her head.
Alexia sighed again, louder this time, fully aware there was no escaping it anymore.
âAnd she only left when Naranja was finally okay.â Claudia finished, smiling like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
âShe is no good at lying.â One of them said, laughing.
Mapi, who had been unusually quiet for a few minutes, suddenly straightened up with a grin that immediately made everyone suspicious.
âOh no, not you.â Alexia muttered, already sensing trouble before a word was even fully spoken.
âI just remembered something from last pre-season camp.â Mapi said ignoring her completely as the whole group leaned in.
âYou two were supposed to be in different recovery groups, but somehow ended up sneaking off together anyway.â
Everyone was already picturing it without needing details.
âAnd when staff asked, Alexia said it was âstrategic bonding for moraleâ.â She added, dramatically quoting her captain.
What the hell? How did they even know all those details?
The two questions came out almost instinctively, your gaze sweeping across you all, it seemed no one looked surprised by your confusion, which somehow made it worse. If anything, they looked entertained, like they had been waiting for you to finally say it out loud.
Kika was the first to answer, far too satisfied with herself.
âBecause everyone knew.â she said simply, shrugging as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. âEveryone except you two.â
Aitana, shaking her head in disbelief, while Vicky covered her face like she was trying not to laugh again. Even Patri looked away, smiling as if she had long given up pretending this was subtle in any way.
âI have my own story to tell. Eh!â Patri announced, her voice cutting through the group and immediately drawing every gaze back to her. A wave of amused murmurs spread instead of laughter, an kind of reaction that came from people already bracing themselves for whatever she was about to reveal. Alexia let out a long breath beside you, clearly anticipating disaster before a single detail was even shared. âOh no. â She was shifting slightly as if that could somehow delay what was coming. Patri, however, only smiled wider and leaned forward, completely unfazed by the reaction she had caused. âOh yes.â She insisted, pointing between you and Alexia as if presenting undeniable evidence. âThis one is good, trust me, you are going to remember it.â
Patri took her time, clearly enjoying suspense. Alexia Putellas rubbed her temple slowly already looking like she was reconsidering every life choice that had led her to this yacht and you glanced at her briefly only to find her avoiding your eyes in the exact way that confirmed she remembered whatever was coming. âIt was during an away trip. . â Patri began, speaking with exaggerated seriousness as if she were delivering tactical analysis rather than stupid gossip.
âPatricia Guijarro, shut up. CalĂĄ-te.â

The media room at FC Bayern Munich is always a little too bright.
Too clean.
Too⌠intentional.
Youâre already there, sitting on one of the chairs, spinning slightly from side to side like youâre five minutes away from losing patience.
âWhy do I feel like this is going to be embarrassing?â you mutter, mostly to yourself.
âBecause it is.â
The voice comes from the door.
You donât even have to look up to know who it is.
Still, you do.
And there she is.
Klara BĂźhl, leaning casually against the doorframe for a second before stepping in, that familiar little smirk already on her face.
You roll your eyes immediately.
âOh, great. I got paired with you?â
She gasps, placing a hand dramatically over her chest.
âWow. I feel so loved.â
âYou should,â you shoot back. âIâm a delight.â
She snorts, walking over and dropping into the chair next to yours.
âYeah, sure. Thatâs what everyone says.â
You bump your shoulder lightly into hers.
âDonât act like youâre not obsessed with me.â
She doesnât even hesitate.
âPlease. I tolerate you at best.â
But thereâs a smile tugging at her lips.
And you see it.
Of course you do.
Because this,
this is just how it is with you two.
Always teasing.
Always close.
Always something just under the surface that neither of you ever actually talks about.
Youâve been teammates for a while now, both wingers, both constantly running the flanks, both somehow always ending up next to each other during training, during drills, during literally anything.
You, the British right winger.
Her, the German left winger or/and forward.
A perfect pairing on paper.
Apparently a perfect pairing off the pitch too, if you listen to literally everyone else.
Because yeah,
people talk.
Teammates, fans, comments onlineâŚ
everyone seems convinced thereâs something more going on.
You and Klara?
You just⌠donât acknowledge it.
At all.
Not the way your eyes linger a second too long sometimes.
Not the way you always look for each other first.
Not the way your laughs come easier around her.
Nope.
Just best friends.
Thatâs the story.
And youâre sticking to it.
âAlright, you two,â one of the media staff calls out, stepping in front of you with a clipboard. âReady?â
You and Klara glance at each other at the same time.
That silent are we really doing this? look.
Then back at the staff.
âAs weâll ever be,â Klara says.
The staff member smiles.
âGreat. So today youâll be doing the âRead My Lipsâ challenge.â
You let out a small groan.
âOh no.â
Klara laughs beside you.
âOh yes.â
The staff continues, clearly enjoying your reactions.
âOne of you will wear headphones with loud music, and the other will say a phrase. Youâll have to guess what theyâre saying by reading their lips.â
You lean back in your chair.
âThat sounds⌠like a disaster.â
âIt will be a disaster,â Klara corrects, nudging your knee with hers.
âAnd Iâm going to win.â
You raise an eyebrow.
âBold of you to assume I wonât be amazing at this.â
She turns slightly toward you, eyes narrowing playfully.
âYou? Amazing? At something that requires brain power?â
You gasp.
âExcuse me?â
âI said what I said.â
You shake your head, fighting a smile.
âYouâre unbelievable.â
Just for a second.
You look at her.
Sheâs already looking at you.
And thereâs something there.
Something quiet.
Something neither of you names.
Then
âOkay!â the staff claps their hands. âWho wants to go first?â
You immediately point at Klara.
âHer.â
Klara points at you at the exact same time.
âHer.â
You both pause.
Look at each other.
Then burst out laughing.
âCoward,â she mutters.
âMe?â you scoff. âYouâre the one trying to throw me under the bus.â
She leans in slightly, voice dropping just enough so only you can hear.
âI just want to see you struggle first.â
Your stomach flips.
Just a little.
You hate that it does.
You love that it does.
âKeep dreaming,â you murmur back.
But youâre smiling.
And so is she.
And somewhere behind the camera,
someoneâs definitely noticing. âAlright, BĂźhl first.â
You clap your hands once, way too excited for someone who just complained about this.
Klara narrows her eyes at you.
âI donât like that look.â
âYou should be scared,â you grin.
She rolls her eyes but takes the headphones anyway, slipping them on and adjusting them over her ears. The second the music starts blasting, her whole expression shifts, slight confusion, slight focus.
âCan you hear me?â you ask.
She just stares at you.
âPerfect,â you mumble, reaching for the cards. You flip the first one over.
And immediately,
you start laughing.
âOf course,â you whisper to yourself.
Klara watches you suspiciously, already squinting like sheâs trying to read your thoughts instead of your lips.
You hold up the card.
A German word.
Great.
You, who can barely say hallo properly.
You take a breath, trying to sound confident.
Einfach.
It comes out âain-facht.â
Klaraâs entire face scrunches up.
Her brows pull together, nose wrinkling as she leans forward slightly.
âIs that⌠a German word?â she mouths, half laughing already.
You nod, trying not to break.
âYes!â
She stares at your lips again.
You repeat it.
âainfacht.â
She blinks.
Then suddenly
âOh! EINFACH!â
You point at her immediately.
âYes!â
She throws her hands up like she just won something massive.
âLetâs go!â
You laugh, shaking your head.
âOkay, okay, next one-â
You flip the card.
Schnell.
You freeze for a second.
ââŚoh no.â
Klara leans forward again, ready.
You try.
âSchnell.â
It comes out⌠not terrible, but definitely not right.
Klara tilts her head.
ââŚshell?â
You shake your head.
âNo-â
âSchnell?â she tries again.
You light up.
âYes!â
âIâm too good at this.â
âRelax,â you mutter, already grabbing the next card.
Bayern.
That one, you can do.
âBayern.â
She barely even hesitates.
âBayern.â
âOkay, that one was easy,â you admit.
She smirks.
âEverything is easy for me.â
You roll your eyes so hard it almost hurts.
âNextâ
World Cup.
You mouth it slowly.
âWorld Cup.â
Klara squints.
ââŚWorld Cup?â
âYes!â
âToo easy,â she shrugs.
âOh my god,â you laugh. âCan you struggle for one second?â
No reply, just confused look.
Next card.
âSaturday.â
You exaggerate it.
âSa-tur-day.â
She leans closer, eyes locked on your lips.
ââŚSaturday?â
âYeah, okay, this is boring,â you groan.
She grins.
âI told you.â
You flip another.
âMĂźnchen.â
You pause.
Look at the staff
âyou couldnât just put it into English.â
Then try.
âMoon-chen.â
Klaraâs lips twitch.
Sheâs trying so hard not to laugh.
âMĂźnchen?â she guesses.
You nod.
âI hate this,â you mutter.
She beams.
âI love this.â
Next.
Der Apfel.
You stare at it.
Then at her.
Then back at it.
ââŚyouâre joking.â
Klara just gestures at you like go on.
You sigh.
âDer⌠Apfel.â
It comes out⌠questionable.
Klara leans in, squinting harder.
ââŚApple?â
You shake your head.
âNo- well, yes- but no-â
âApfel?â she tries.
You point at her again.
âYes!â
She claps once.
âIâm actually incredible.â
âYouâre actually annoying,â you shoot back.
Next.
Left wing.
You raise an eyebrow at her.
âOh, this oneâs for you.â
You mouth it.
âLeft wing.â
She doesnât even think.
âLeft wing.â
âYeah, alright, that was too obvious.â
âBecause Iâm smart,â she shrugs.
You flip the last card.
You go through it, both of you laughing more with each one, her getting most of them right, you messing up pronunciations every other word.
By the end-
âEight out of ten,â the staff announces.
Klara pulls the headphones off dramatically.
âEight?!â
âThatâs really good,â you admit, even if it pains you.
She turns to you slowly.
A smirk already forming.
âIâd love to see you beat that.â
And then-
she winks.
Your stomach does that stupid little flip again.
You hate it.
You really do.
So you roll your eyes instead, leaning back in your chair.
âPlease,â you scoff. âIâm about to destroy you.â
But the smile youâre trying to hide?
Yeah.
She sees it.
âAlright,â you say, grabbing the headphones like youâve got something to prove. âLetâs do this.â
Klara leans back in her chair, already watching you with that Iâm about to enjoy this way too much look.
You narrow your eyes at her.
âDonât look at me like that.â
âIâm not doing anything,â she shrugs, way too innocent.
Then just smiles.
You put the headphones on, adjusting them over your ears as the music kicks in, loud enough that the room disappears instantly.
You canât hear a thing.
Perfect.
Across from you, Klara BĂźhl reaches for the cards.
She flips the first one,
and immediately starts laughing to herself.
You frown.
Thatâs never a good sign.
She covers her mouth for a second, then looks toward the media staff, shaking her head.
âSie hat keine Chance, das zu erraten.â
[She has no chance of guessing this.]
You blink at her.
âWhat?â
Nothing.
You point at your ears dramatically.
âI canât hear you!â
She nods, still smiling, then looks back at you.
And mouths
âDie Blume.â
You stare at her.
Blank.
Absolutely nothing behind your eyes.
Klara watches your face for a second.
Then turns to the staff again, already grinning.
âIch habâs euch gesagt.â
[I told you so.]
You squint at her.
âWhat are you saying??â
She tries again, slower this time.
âDie. Blu-me.â
You lean forward, focusing hard on her lips.
ââŚthe⌠blue⌠me?â
Klaraâs shoulders start shaking.
Sheâs trying so hard not to laugh.
You look at her, confused.
âIs that a German word?!â
You definitely say it too loud.
She immediately leans forward, laughing.
âShhh!!â she hisses, still giggling.
You look at her like she just lost her mind.
âI canât hear myself!â you shout again.
She laughs even harder, shaking her head.
You try again, a little quieter this time.
âIs it German?â
She nods, still smiling like this is the best thing thatâs ever happened to her.
âDie Blume,â she repeats.
You stare at her.
Trying.
Really trying.
ââŚblue moon?â
Klara completely loses it.
She bends forward, laughing into her hands.
You throw your hands up.
âOh my god, I hate this!â
She wipes under her eyes, still laughing as she moves on.
Next card.
âGuten Tag.â
She mouths it clearly.
âGu-ten Tag.â
You squint.
ââŚgood⌠dog?â
She shakes her head.
âNo, again.â
âGuten Tag.â
ââŚgood⌠talk?â
She tilts her head.
Close.
âGuten Tag,â she repeats.
You pause.
Then
âGuten Tag?â
She points at you immediately.
âYes!â
You sit back, proud.
âOkay, Iâm getting this.â
She just smiles like sure you are.
Next.
Training session.
You nod immediately.
âOh, I got this.â
She mouths it.
âTraining session.â
You lean forward.
âTraining session.â
âYes!â
You point at yourself.
âSee? Easy.â
She rolls her eyes, already grabbing the next card.
âRight wing.â
She exaggerates it.
You donât even hesitate.
âRight wing.â
âOkay, that one doesnât count,â she mutters.
You grin. âStill counts.â
Next.
âGermany.â
She mouths it slower. âGer-ma-ny.â
You nod.
âGermany.â
âOkay, stop being good now,â she says, half laughing.
You shrug. âCanât help it.â
She goes through more cards, mixing it up again, some German, some English.
You struggle.
A lot.
She laughs.
A lot.
At one point you just stare at her like sheâs speaking an entirely different language,
which, to be fair, she is.
And every time you shout something way too loud, she has to shush you again, barely holding it together.
By the end, youâre both laughing, slightly out of breath.
The staff steps in.
âAlright, final scoreâŚâ
You both turn at the same time.
ââŚeight out of ten.â
Thereâs a beat.
âWhat?!â you both say at the same time.
Klara drops her head back.
âYouâre joking.â You rip the headphones off. âHow did I get eight??â
She turns to you, offended.
You both look at each other.
Then, groan.
At the same time.
âUgh, thatâs so annoying,â you mutter.
âI wanted to win,â she adds.
You cross your arms.
âSo did I.â
Thereâs a small pause.
Then you glance at her.
Sheâs already looking at you.
And even though youâre both pretending to be annoyed
youâre smiling.
Again.
Of course you are.
bonus here!

There was a very specific, unspoken rule within the architectural layout of Alexia Putellasâs villa in Pedralbes: if the heavy oak doors leading to the master bedroom suite were completely closed, you did not knock, you did not enter, and you certainly did not assume the occupants were just sleeping.
Regrettably, Eli Putellas had completely forgotten this protocol on a remarkably warm Thursday afternoon.
"Alexia, cariĂąo, I left the keys to the Mollet flat on your kitchen island, and Iâm just going to look forâ"
The heavy oak door swung open with a smooth, unproblematic creak. The sentence died a brutal, sudden death in Eli's throat.

Epilogue part 2
2.3k Words
The problem with deciding you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, Kinsey quickly discovers, is that it makes every moment feel like it could be the moment.
You're a starting centre back for Arsenal Women's team, composed, vocal, one of the leaders on the pitch. Fans admire you for your intelligence and calm authority.
Online, though, you have a different kind of voice, a hugely respected writer on Tumblr with an alias, known for deeply emotional, character driven smutty womenâs football fan fiction. People in the fandom hang on your updates. You've built a reputation for getting players right, their mannerisms, their dynamics, their quiet moments.
No one knows how close you actually are to the source.

The Threshold of Exhaustion
Alexia Putellas x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~5,120 words
TW: Bornout, physical and emotional exhaustion, hospitalization/ER setting, emotional betrayal, miscommunication, emotional reconciliation, eventual high-key fluff, domestic comfort, and excessive clinginess.
Summary: Being the Chief of Neurosurgery at Hospital Vall d'Hebron is an elite, high-stakes life; being Alexia Putellasâs secret girlfriend is an entirely different kind of stress. When you overhear Alexia brutally downplaying your relationship to her inner circle just to protect her privacy, you don't fight. You just glaze over. You match her secrecy with a total, frozen wall of clinical silence. But when months of heartbreaking distance and back-to-back craniotomies push your body past its breaking point, you collapse on the hospital floor. Receiving a terrifying call from the ER, a frantic Alexia has to rush to your bedside, face the devastating fallout of her own words, and fight with everything she has to win back the brilliantly funny, unbreakably clingy woman she nearly destroyed.
The brain was entirely an organ of electricity and structural tolerance. It could process trauma, map intricate motor pathways, and withstand the extreme pressure of a high-speed collision, provided the blood supply remained pure. But as the Chief of Neurosurgery at Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron, you knew that even the most brilliant neural networks had a definitive, absolute threshold. If you pushed a system too hard without letting it cool down, the circuits would simply melt.
For three years, your relationship with Alexia Putellas had been your sanctuaryâthe one place where you didn't have to be the youngest, sharpest surgical chief in the country.

The Cold and the Clockwork
Pairing: Alexia Putellas x Female!Reader
Word: 3,85k
TW: Emotional neglect, parental rejection, heavy themes of homesickness and isolation, language barriers, slow-burn romantic tension.
Summary: Moving from the sun-drenched streets of Barcelona to the grey, relentless drizzle of London after her historic transfer to London City Lionesses leaves Alexia feeling entirely unanchored. When the radiator in her cold, empty flat bursts in the middle of a November night, she expects a costly emergency plumber. Instead, she gets her neighborâa woman who carries a heavy tool belt, an aristocratic last name her family erased, and a shared understanding of what it means to be entirely on your own.
The silence in the London apartment was different from the silence in Barcelona.
In Barcelona, even in the dead of winter, the silence carried the residual warmth of the Mediterranean sea, the distant hum of scooters on the limestone streets, and the comfort of a city that spoke her language. Here, in the high-ceilinged, drafty flat in North London, the silence felt metallic. It was heavy, punctuated only by the aggressive, rhythmic patter of cold November rain against the tall Victorian windows.

another blurb, âshe looks at her like she just realized what love is.â - fake dating.
a nervous chuckle had escaped your lips, as you looked at yourself in the mirror. itâs been a while since youâve attended an event, as youâve been out due to a little hamstring injury.
your eyes gazed at the red velvet suit that were clad in, the black dress shoes that you wore was a bit fancy to your liking. but there was something that you were missing, to complete the outfit, it was a tie.
a frustrated look was worn across your face, as you held the piece of cloth that is supposed to complete your outfit. a small hum and you completely disregarded the untied tie.
at the hotel lobby, a group of femalesâeither dressed up in suits or a dress had stayed, clearly they were waiting on someone. but millie, the teamâs captain gazed her eyes on her blonde teammate, aggie one of the youngsterâs on the team.
aggie, the said girl was seen looking at the stairs, wondering when you would come out of the hotel room. yet her worries were cut off as you made your way to the group, her face had immediately brightenedâbut her eyes were set on your neck, where your tie is supposed to be.
âwhereâs your tie, love?â you felt a bit flustered at the endearment, the whole fake dating was planned because your relatives were questioning you if there was someone in your life.
and aggie had volunteered, but you donât want to be fake dating, but be a real couple. in where youâre so certain that she feels the same way, and she doesâyou both havenât acted on it.
âi donât knowâhow to tie a tie.â you felt a bit shy and embarrassed as you averted your eyes behind, setting it on a vase that had an arrangement of flowers.
a loud chuckle was heard beside you, as aggie gave you a shy yet huge smile. her hand was held out as you sighed, before giving her the black tie that resided in your pocket.
âitâs cute, you know? chelseaâs star midfielder who scores only bangers doesnât know how to tie a tie.â aggie teased, as you flushed a bit bright, warmth coated your cheeks, as you simply shrugged, acting like her words didnât have an effect on you.
she reached to put the tie behind you as you simply looked at her, your eyes was set on her. the way her eyes was concentrated on the tie, how sheâd unconsciously bite her lips, or how nervous she made you.
when she was done, her eyes slowly traveled up, only to find you staring already at her. you felt her sneak a hand around your waist, as you gulped at the close proximity, it was already enough to get you weak in the knees as you realized your feelings.
âmay i?â her voice was more softer than usual, as you gave her a little nod, confirming that she can lean in. you felt how soft and delicate the kiss was, grinning a little as you realized what was happening.
a little anxious you felt, it was the first time you ever kissed her, you only went as far as hand holding, hugging and kissing her cheek.
millie, the teamâs captain wore a soft smile on her face, as guro the teamâs joker followed the britâs eyes, a teasing look on her face.
aggie looks at you, like she just realized what love is.

aggie couldn't believe her luck or misfortune, depending on how she looked at it. first ever senior lioness camp and she had to share a room with you, y/n y/l/n. sounded like a recipe for disaster to her.
sheâd barely spoken to you before and now she was stuck sharing not only a hotel room but a bed with you as well. the idea of sharing such an intimate space with someone she didnât know very well and isnât particularly close to made her uncomfortable.
but as the night sky settled in, aggies mind raced with apprehension as she lingered in the bathroom. she wasn't sure how this sleeping arrangement would play out.
but after ten minutes of painfully awkwardly hiding in the bathroom, when she saw you peacefully asleep, she didnât mind as much.
once the blonde got into the double bed, your faces were inches apart, and aggie couldn't help but marvel at how effortlessly pretty you looked even while you were sleeping.
as the night went on and in a state between slumber and awake aggie begrudgingly allowed you to snuggle up to her, feeling the warmth of your bodies melding together.
she tried to convince herself it was for practicality's sake, it was a cold night out and everyone knows body heat is much warmer than a few blankets! and to conserve space on the narrow bed. but deep down she found herself secretly enjoying the closeness.
in the quiet of the room aggie listened to the steady rhythm of your breathing, feeling a sense of peace wash over her. despite your surface level connection, there was something comforting about your proximity.
but eventually, aggie's curiosity got the better of her. "y/n," she whispered, barely louder than a whisper. "are you awake?"
you stirred slightly, blinking sleepily before looking up to face aggie. "yeah, what's wrong?" your voice was soft and laced with drowsiness.
"itâs stupid really, i just couldnât fall asleep," the blonde admitted, feeling a twinge of vulnerability. "iâm just not used to sharing a bed."
you laughed softly before answering. "yeah, it can be weird at first. but don't worry, i promise not to hog the blankets to myself! and besides, it's kind of nice having someone to lie on."
the two of you fell into a comfortable silence, the weight of the conversation hanging in the air. and as you lay there, side by side. in fact, it might just be the start of something new, both on and off the field. as the night wore on, aggie drifted into a peaceful sleep, your bodies entwined, differences fading into the background. perhaps sharing a bed wasn't such a bad thing after all.
Iâm here
Aggie Beever-Jones x reader
Y/n had already told aggie that she couldnât watch the final in switzerland
But she had promised to try
And that gave aggie a bit of hope
Until the night before the Euro final, Y/N sat alone in her flat in London, staring at the phone like it might save her.
Sheâd rehearsed what she was going to say a hundred times, and still, her chest felt too tight to breathe. She hit call.
Aggie answered immediately, her voice full of sparkle. âTomorrowâs gonna be mental! Final. Birthday. You, me, Switzerland... You ready?â
Y/Nâs heart sank deeper with every word. âAggie... I canât come i told you that.â
There was silence, followed by a sharp, brittle inhale.
âWhat?â
Y/N blinked fast, trying to stop herself from crying. âI have a lot of work to do aggie, you know that,I tried everything . I canât get away.â
Aggie didnât respond right away. Y/N could hear the shift in her breathing, slow and heavy. âSo youâre really not coming.â
âI hate this,â Y/N whispered. âI wanted to be there more than anything.â
Aggie let out a bitter laugh, half-choked. âRight. Thanks for telling me now, I guess.â
âIâm so sorry.â
Another pause. Then, just above a whisper: âThis was supposed to be our day.â
Then the line went dead. Aggie was realy sad about it.
Y/N sat frozen, phone still pressed to her ear even after the call ended. The silence echoed through her flat like punishment.
She didnât sleep. And by morning, something inside her snapped.
She called her boss and told the biggest lie in the world: "I'm really sick, I can't go today."
She opened every travel app she could find. Flights to Basel were scarce and overpriced, but she didnât care. One seat left on a connecting flight through Frankfurt. She booked it.
No plan, no sleep, no promise that it would even work, but she had to try.
She threw a hoodie over her shirt, stuffed her passport into her bag, and raced to Heathrow. Airport delays, gate changes, a hellish sprint through Frankfurt terminal with nothing but determination holding her upright. She texted Aggieâs mum from the airport: âDonât tell her. Iâm coming.â
Hours later, she stepped out of a taxi near the stadium in Zurich. The final had started. The roar from inside sent shivers through her spine. She rushed to the family section, nearly colliding with Aggieâs brother. Her hands were shaking as Aggieâs mum hugged her tight, eyes misty.
âSheâs heartbroken,â her mum said. âYou being here will change everything.â
Y/N sat down, hiding beneath a cap and hoodie, gripping a hand-drawn sign that read: I missed my flight⌠but not you.
She watched the match, heart in her throat. England played fiercely. Aggie was on the bench cheering, supporting, smiling through what Y/N knew was disappointment sheâd never admit out loud.
As the final whistle blew and England were crowned champions, chaos erupted around her. Champagne, flares, music. Aggieâs teammates screamed with joy. Families jumped and hugged and cried.
Then she saw her.
Aggie, climbing the steps to greet her family . Tired eyes. Medal around her neck. Birthday adrenaline fizzing into post-match exhaustion.
She reached the top, paused, and her eyes locked onto Y/Nâs.
There was a beat where neither of them moved. Just stunned silence.
Then Aggieâs body jolted forward. Her eyes filled instantly, breath catching like sheâd been punched in the chest.
âYouâwhatâhow?â
Y/N stood up slowly, lifting the sign like it might explain everything.
Aggie dropped everything, medal, nerves, weight of the day, and pulled her into the fiercest hug sheâd ever given.
âYou said you couldnât come,â she whispered against Y/Nâs neck, voice already cracking.
âI had to,â Y/N replied, eyes closed, tears slipping silently. âI couldnât let you win without me.â
Aggie pulled back just enough to see her properly, her hands still gripping Y/Nâs arms like letting go wasnât an option. âThis just became the best night of my life.â
Y/N laughed softly. âYou didnât even play.â
âI donât care,â Aggie said. âYouâre here.â
âIâm here,â Y/N said softly. âI ran. I didnât sleep. I begged six people to let me cut queues. I thought I might die in Frankfurt airport. But Iâm here.â
Aggie gripped her face between both hands, eyes wet. âYou said you couldnât come.â
âI lied,â Y/N said. âBecause I didnât think I could. And then I realized I had to. But if someone ever asks you, iâm realy realy sick ok?â
Aggie couldnât stop laughing
She kissed her then, shamelessly, like the crowd didnât exist. The stadium roared with fireworks. Y/N could hear Ella Toone screaming something vaguely related to âHappy Birthday!â in the distance.
Aggie leaned back, forehead resting against Y/Nâs. âHow much did that flight cost?â
âToo much,â Y/N said, laughing. âBut youâre kind of priceless.â
Aggie smiled wider than she had all week. âNext year, just get me socks.â
Y/N laughed, eyes glistening. âThere's no way I was missing your birthday.â
Aggie nodded. âAnd the finall.â
Y/N was smiling and crying all at once. âHappy birthday, Aggs.I love youâ
Aggie nodded. âThis is the best gift Iâve ever had.â
âI was afraid it would ruin things,â Y/N said. âThat telling you I couldnât come would break us.â
Aggie touched her cheek. âIt hurt. Bad. But this... made it real. You showing up like this? Iâll remember it for the rest of my life.â
A photographer nearby snapped a photo, catching the two of them with the crowd blurred behind, a moment frozen in gold.
Aggie looked down at her medal, then back up at Y/N.
âThis belongs to you as much as me.â
Y/N shook her head. âI didnât earn it.â
âYes,â Aggie said. âYou did. You saved my night. My heart. My birthday.â
They stayed in the stands longer than anyone else. As fans began filtering out, the stadium lights softened. The pitch was empty. But the magic still hung in the air.
Niamh appeared out of nowhere and whispered . âSo... letâs go party girls?â
âYES PLEASEâ Y/n said laughing "I need alcohol after the trip I hadâ
âclearlyâ Aggie said kissing her girlfriend

Jana Fernandez "oh my god are you jealous?"
"Oh my god are you jealous?"
Jana and I have been on this limbo of we're dating but we don't want anyone to know but maybe we're not even dating for about a year, year and a half. It was tedious to constantly be like that and at least for me it reached that point where I knew I wanted to be with her and no one else.
We were on one of those patches where for some stupid fight we're not dating anymore and unfortunately for me it was right before the game against Wolfsburg. I was off my game the whole practice before and when I was finally supposed to start a game in a full Camp Nou the coach decided it was better to just leave me on the bench once again. I was angry, not at the coach or even Jana, but at myself it was stupid of me to waist this big of a chance just because Jana and I got into a fight so I stayed late working on my game so that at least I would have the chance to be subbed on. I could feel eyes on me while I trained and I knew they were Jana's but I was so mad at myself I didn't even want to look at her because I knew I would explode.
When the day finally arrived I was sat at the bench waiting for my opportunity which thankfully arrived in the second half. We played some awesome football and somehow I always ended up next to Jill Roord. We were next to each other for the entirety of the second half which prompted some laughs at moments where the game was stopped and we just joked at each other, Jill and I always had that friendly relationship that just develops after playing each other so many times.
When the game ended, thankfully in our favor i gave Jill a hug while whispering some lame joke in her ear which made her laugh and shake her head at me before continuing shaking hands with the rest of my teammates. When I reached the injured players i gave them all a hug including Jana who for some reason had a scowl on her face but not directed at me, I look behind me seeing Jill and her teammates talking and I start laughing which gets Jana out of her death stare "What? Why are you laughing?" I just shake my head at her "Oh my god, I can't believe it, are you jealous? Of Jill?" she looks at me like I've just caught her stealing something and then gets completely flustered "Me? Pfft no, why would I be jealous?" She talks fast and mumbling her words which just makes me laugh once again "Honey I've only got eyes for you I thought you knew that" I whisper into her ear before going past her to congratulate the rest of my teammates and I look back seeing her just frozen there and with her cheeks completely red "Guys?? Who broke Jana?" I hear Mapi say while I hug Alexia.

âAlba!â you yell once you spot your older cousin sitting in the stands.Â
âMi prima pequeĂąaâ Alba jumps up from her seat pulling you into a forcefully tight hug, âyou are never allowed to leave the country againâ she informs you, still holding onto you.Â
âI donât think I want to, I canât handle the coldâ you shiver remembering the freezing nights you spent tossing and turning in an attempt to warm yourself to no avail while in Sweden.
âDid you at least find a hot Swedish girlfriend?â Alba asks, laughing as you look at her with a look of disapproval.Â
âWhat? only hook ups? That's my girl!â Alba speaks proudly.Â
âI didnât hook up with anyone and I definitely didnât get a Swedish girlfriendâ you sigh in annoyance at your older cousin's antics.Â
âCome on (Y/N) the Swedes are an attractive bunch, as if you didnât even kiss at least one?âÂ
âIf you think the Swedes are so hot you move there and get a girlfriendâ you huff, although you canât help but laugh at the end of your sentence, knowing that Alba exclusively dates Alexiaâs teammates so her dating anyone else would be highly unlikely.Â
âNo need to move to Sweden. Iâm working on that oneâ Alba points you in the direction of Fridolina.Â
âReally?â you question with a laugh, not really surprised that she is working on dating another of Alexia's teammates. Â
âShe isnât gay from what I knowâÂ
âWhen did that ever stop you before?â you laugh, Albaâs stories of helping âstraightâ girls explore their sexuality being a staple conversation piece at your family events.Â
âIt hasnât and it wonât now, donât be surprised when we start datingâ Alba informs you with a cheeky smile.Â
âOh I wonât beâ you shake your head, moving your head to focus on the pitch, ready to watch the game that is about to begin.Â
-
As the game comes to an end you cheer excitedly, always happy to watch your cousin play but even more happy when she is able to win.Â
Alexia spots Alba in the crowd, having expected her to be there but when she notices you sitting next to her she is absolutely shocked. You werenât supposed to be home for around another month and to say your oldest cousin had been missing you was an understatement.Â
âMi dulce primo bebĂŠâ Alexia hugs you tightly.Â
âHoli Lexiâ you reply, a sweet giggle escaping your lips as she ruffles your hair due to the nickname that only you are allowed to call her.Â
âYou are never leaving the country again, you hear me?â she speaks sternly.Â
âI already told her that and found out that she didnât even get a hot Swedish girlfriend or hook up with anyoneâ Alba informs her older sister, earning her a slap up the side of her head.Â
âYou are such a bad influence, and no girlfriends for you until you are olderâ Alexia informs you, the smile on her face indicating that she is partially joking but you know as her baby cousin that she most definitely isnât.Â
âI am older though, Iâm not a baby anymoreâ you whine, this causes Alba to laugh at the fact that you are acting like a baby and Alexia to give what could only be described as the look a mother gives their toddler when they are about to do something wrong.Â
âFineâ you sigh, âno girlfriends until Iâm olderâÂ
-
âWho is that with Alexia?â Jana asks Jenni, not be able to take her eyes off you as you continue catching up with your two cousins.Â
âThat is Alexiaâs cousin, (Y/N). She must have just come home, she was studying in Swedenâ Jenni answers absentmindedly. âWhy?â she snaps out of her daze when she realises that Jana is asking about you.Â
âShe is the most beautiful person Iâve ever seenâ Jana answers in some sort of daze herself, obviously experiencing some type of love at first sight type of feelings.Â
âCome with me, I want to see her anywayâ Jenni pulls Jana along, not allowing time for arguments even though there is none from the young defender.Â
â(Y/N)!â Jenni yells as she approaches you, catching your attention quite easily with how loud she yells.Â
âJenni!â you giggle pulling her into a hug when she reaches you.Â
âWho is this?â you ask, pointing at Jana, who is standing quietly.Â
Jenni nudges Jana harshly which forces a yelp of pain out of her lips.
While that is happening Alexia takes it upon herself to introduce the player to you, âthat is my teammate Jana, she isnât too much older than youâÂ
âWell nice to meet you Janaâ you hold out your hand, waiting for her to shake yours, not wanting to be too forward as to hug her immediately.Â
Clearly Jana has other ideas though as she does pull you into a hug, âitâs nice to meet you (Y/N), I hope to see more of you?â she speaks in a questioning tone.Â
âYeah Iâm back in Barcelona for good so youâll probably see me at a few gamesâ you inform her, a redness covering your cheeks at both the hug and her mentioning wanting to see you more.Â
âGreat I canât waitâ she responds quickly, turning away letting the blush take over her cheeks.Â
âSo (Y/N), no Swedish girlfriend but you will have a Spanish one in no timeâ Alba teases, âI always knew you would take after meâ she holds her hands over her heart, a look of pride on her face.Â
âPlease do not follow in Albaâs footstepsâ Alexia tells you, her stern looks scaring you slightly.Â
âNo dating until Iâm olderâ you throw your hands in the air, claiming innocence as the girls around you giggle at how easily you listen to what Alexia tells you to do.
