Restrictions: No pregnancy, no permanent injury or death (scars are fine, just no permanent loss of limbs or senses; existing canon injuries are also fine, too), no major aus (I’m open to things like vampire au but not big things like time period or setting changes), no food as a major theme, and no smut, whump, or angst atm

"Harbor" was supposed to be a one-shot. And, oops, it ended up being six chapters.

And then our little group chat kept talking about selkie Roy and all the adorable little adventures and stories with him and Johnny. And now I have this big series in my Ellipsus folders. Some one-shots and some multi-chapters.

All waiting to get posted eventually... pacing is tricky because I have other stories and series that need to get posted as well. But.... if any of you really like the Harbor series, just know that it's not ending anytime soon and there's a lot more to come. As of right now, here's what's scheduled for the Harbor-verse:

August 15: "Forecast" - a prequel written for Summer of 51's September 7: "National Geographic Presents" September 14: "Awawawawa: A Series of Harbor Life Slices" October 12: "Lightweight" (story #4 in 'Harbor' series)

a) I spend a fair amount of time in backcountry and that's good shit to know,

but also incidentally b) I write whump.

So much of the first aid stuff that you look up when you're trying to do research for h/c just says "try to stabilize the situation and call an ambulance so an actual doctor can handle it!" -- which is correct, in most situations, if not helpful for what you're trying to write.

But not wilderness medicine.

Wilderness medicine knows there's no fucking ambulance coming up a mountain. You're hours and hours from a hospital, either by carryout or possibly by helicopter if you're lucky. There is no ER doctor* out there in the back of beyond -- just some dumbass in hiking boots trying their best.
