i wish america wasnt real and was just a storytelling device or a fake place . talking about things being "the american way" and making comments on that would be so much more interesting and fun if they were about a fake place, made to satirise and hold up a mirror to other real countries . but instead its just not satire and people actually fucking believe in that bullshit.

like in my mind from the ages of 0 - 12 america was as fake a place as gotham city. its only meant to exist in pieces of media and it only exists as a metaphor for a country, for the idea of a country. and i wish it was that way because its such an interesting playground to play around in, a country where everything is fucked and nobody wants any good for anyone else at all. it just seems so fake. and then you grow up and have to come to terms with it being real and then all the fun storytelling from movies and shit just fill you with dread
