also i wanted to say cause idk if you'd know this about the Xander body double episode… his double self was played by the actor's real life twin brother Kelly Donovan!

so yeah he was mostly still played by Nicholas Brendon but his twin did have a few lines of dialogue and whenever they're both on screen it's not green screen trickery it's his twin! who also filled in for a few shots where he doesn't speak for another episode later cause Nicholas was sick (for 5x18 Intervention) not sure if anyone's ever figured out which scenes but anytime he doesn't have dialogue in that episode it could be his twin brother!

Ooohhh the twin brother thing is amazing actually. I would not have guessed that. I just assumed that they did a good job at green screening. Is Kelly Donovan also an actor?

I have seen some people rank s5 in first place so I do have great expectations for this season and so far it's been good.

most people enjoy the Dracula episode :) but yeah it is kinda weird how like holy shit what Dracula?? and like what he's different from other vampires… cause oh holy shit he can turn into a bat??? and he can turn into mist and then she stakes him but he can come back from that??? other vampires cannot do any of that stuff. but it mostly gets handwaved away/explained as "magic parlor tricks" as Spike says… they basically wanted to have Dracula on the show and have it be different to a regular vampire cause you know he's Dracula!

also fun fact: Dracula is played by one of Sarah Michelle Gellar's co-stars (love interest i think) on All My Children, Rudolf Martin (character name: Anton Lang and her character's name was Kendall Hart).

as for Dawn Summers… you will just have to keep watching.

Ahh I kinda guessed that while watching the show! But they did it good. It was a good episode. A solid season opener.

Okayyy, I have finished until episode 4 and OMG its so goodd. I'll talk about each episode seperately.

The first one, Dracula episode was a good episode and a very light one (comparatively) for a buffy episode. The two things about this episode is Riley's insecurity and Dawn's appearance. Riley feeling insecure is something that I actually expected from him. He is a human (yes a power enhanced soldier but still not as good as buffy) and buffy's dating history already scared him a bit. Honestly? I would lowkey feel insecure if my partner's ex is someone like Angel. It's not just that he's a vampire but also the fact of how much Buffy loved him and vice versa. As of Dawn's appearance, I was so confused, and tbh i still am confused.

The second episode is fully Dawn focused. She is a good kid, and I don't have any negative feelings towards her. She's a cute kid. I just wish I knew how and why she spawned into this universe. I guess I just have to keep watching to understand that.

The third was the Xander body double episode. I actually had a lot of fun with this episode. I really loved that the writers chose to explore Xander's self depreciating tendencies instead of just having it as a comedy bit for the sake of comedy. It adds depth to his character. I also loved seeing how he handle Anya. She is an unusual person (understandably so) and I love seeing their relationship.

The fourth episode is fully packed. I immediately wanna say, I can talk about this episode's end for hours but I wanna deal with another thing before. Riley's confession to Xander in the last episode about how Buffy don't love him. I did not notice the hints until Riley opened up to Xander but in this episode I saw how Buffy behaved with him. Yes, she likes him and cares for him but since I've seen how in love she was with Angel, I can see what he meant. I hope we get a mutual breakup instead of something nasty like Riley going back to military without having a convo with Buffy.

Now to the "cliffhanger". WTF WAS THAT???!!!!!! I know it's a cliche. Someone realising that they are attracted/ in love with someone through their dreams but screw me, I DO NOT CARE. I squealed when Spike woke up from the dream. Now all I want is for Spike to YEARN for her and I can die happily. How did I get here? I used to be so confused as to why Spike or Buffy would for eachother in season 2 but now I'm practically dying for them to get together. But I don't want it to happen immediately. I expect a lot of pining and yearning.

Okay I think I've yapped enough. I'm loving this season so far. I know it's going to be an amazing one already<3

i was thinking of sending you like 3 asks maybe with the options to answer after having watched a certain amount of episode(s) and you can choose which to answer to react to 1 or more episodes at a time for the first few episodes of season 5. i think you'll understand why.

I would definitely describe season 4 as experimental. It worked well for me. I think it is my second fav season (my first is still the 2nd season). I generally like the episode restless it's just the placement that seems odd.

Can you explain the existence of dawn summers to me? Did I miss some clues that hinted at her existence?

I only half understand that ask system you talk about but send it anyways, we'll figure it out as we go!!

back to season 4 though:

what did you think of the finale? and the big fight against Adam/the Initiative? them using that joining spell? having the big fight happen in 4x20-4x21 then 4x22 being all dreams (which may have had some amount of foreshadowing stuff you have yet to watch...)

also Oz coming back in 4x19 and Willow/Tara? plus Willow's coming out/how each character finds out/reacts?

and Angel showing up in 4x20? (any confusion from not watching ATS (yet)?)

and Faith showing up in 4x15-4x16? (feel free to answer in chronological order lol i just realized i've asked all my questions working my way back from the finale...)

The finale was amazing actually. I really liked that the whole gang was involved in the fight. And the way it triggered the first ever slayer's spirit. It really was a wonderful finale though I don't understand why they had the dream episode be the last one. It gave the sort of vibes of a season opener. I wish they ended with the 21st episode and then the 22nd one was the season opener of the next one. Am I nuts? Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

Though I don't appreciate the placement of it, I really did like the dreams episode. Sure, Xander's dream about tara and willow was icky to me, the other parts of it were super fun to watch. I'm really excited for season 5 now!!! I can't wait to see what's in store for the gang in the future.

One thing I didn't talk about in the last ask is the whole Anya/Xander. I really love their relationship and Anya is super funny. I really hope they are end game and Anya doesn't get her powers back🥲

Faith and Angel's come back. Faith switching bodies with buffy was a smart move. But she didn't piss me off this time. I truly felt sorry for her. In her opinion, the one person who cared for her, the mayor, was killed by buffy. So ofcourse she was mad. But I wish she would've handled it better. I hope we get a proper redemption arc for her. If anyone can pull it off, then it's this series.

Angel's come back. I have to admit, I was a tiny bit confused about what was going on and everything but they seemed to sense my confusion and explained a few things like what angel said that upset buffy so much and so on. I also like that Angel doesn't like Riley. I wonder what he would say about spuffy!!

I'm starting s5 now, dunno how fast I'm going to finish this one but I'm super excited to get into it.

i definitely wanna say you might wanna come back and read this ask you replied to once you've finished Buffy & Angel... tbh re-reading through all the stuff you posted with your thoughts once you've seen everything might prove very interesting at times...

Hey hello! I finally processed a great deal of S4. Now onto the opinions!

The initiative storyline was interesting actually. It really felt like watching something out of stranger things. Not in a bad way ofcourse. But the weird part was, when I watched the initiative storyline, I was not relating scientific buffy but the rest of the scooby gang. When they felt neglected, I felt that too. But it all made sense by the last episode. Which made the finale more emotionally moving.

Adam was an interesting character. He kinda reminded me of those Frankenstein guy from an earlier season. Remember the one where a couple of guys tried to cut off cordy's head to make a girl? It sorta reminded me of that. But he was a solid villain.

I did not trust Riley at first, he seemed like he was just like everyone else in that initiative. But he definitely redeemed himself by the end. Ik that they won't last because of the very obvious spoilers about spuffy which may be the reason for my lack of attachment with Riley, but he seems like a genuine nice guy.

I really like Tara/willow storyline. I'm interested in seeing how they continue the storyline. I really liked the way Buffy ended up processing willow's sexuality. It was very realistic. I liked the way they ended the oz chapter. Like nobody can ever replace Oz, he was a wonderful boyfriend. But that chapter of her life is closed now. I wish we'll get to see more of Oz tho.

Oh btw, willow being in a gay relationship was also one of the spoilers I got. But I did end up falling in love with Oz/Willow over the time.

Hush was a very interesting character. I really enjoyed the creativity in these monster of the week episodes. I really liked the challenge aspect of it, making it hard for people to guess the ending.
