In the eyes of many, One Direction was just another cheesy pop band. A group of five young men who were lucky enough to profit off of the supposed "hysteria" of millions of teenage girls.

Though I am not even two years deep into my One Direction journey, I can confidently say that they are so much more than that. 

One Direction is a family. A group of people you can completely be yourself around. Those who will support you through your difficulties and your victories. Whether it be the love from the boys or the rallying of the fans, One Direction is there through the highs and lows of it all. 

One Direction is a shelter. While the outside world is swirling with evils and atrocities, One Direction provides a place to breathe. For some it may be a distraction from the horrors and for others it can be a comfort. Within the walls of this fandom, nothing else can hurt you, even if only for a moment.

One Direction is a love. The bond between the boys and the fans is unlike any other. An evolving connection that's almost magic. An indescribable force that no one outside can understand. Something that will never fade.

All of these pillars are what make One Direction so extraordinary. I am incredibly lucky to have been accepted into a space where I can experience these wonders.

1D Day - 11/23/2013

It was obviously such a big F you to their people for not letting them have a segment. He basically said, "you cannot stop me, this is live and everyone is going to see it."

Louis clearly didn't know Harry was going to do it based on his reaction and you can tell, even though he was slightly uncomfortable, that his initial reaction was one of pure joy. To me this is Louis thoughts: "oh he is singing to me, omg, i love him, oh no this isn't going to be great but also i love it." And then towards the end, Louis pays him back by looking directly at him when he is singing a few of his last lines.

Zayn and Niall see it and are so uncomfortable. Zayn exchanges a look with Liam and then avoids eye contact with anyone else. But Niall... oh man, Niall does it for me. He is looking straight down at the ground the entire time he is singing and cannot wait for this situation to be over.

Liam and Louis are clearly awkward with their body movements and trying to distract from what is happening. And then when the song is over they immediately start talking to cut the tension in the air.

Anyway, i love it. Seems like you are getting a lot of negative things lately and that video makes me so happy.

I love you, anon. Thank you for this slice of happiness. SO MUCH was going on in that segment. I love how often Harry gave the label/management the finger, even though I'm sure Harry and Louis' battle was incredibly stressful for everyone.

Never forget the times One Direction had us up all night giggling.

Never forget the times One Direction created songs that take us home (no matter how old we get).

Never forget the times One Direction helped us make midnight memories with friends & family.

Never forget the times One Direction opened their hearts fo(u)r us to see.

Lastly, never forget the times One Direction showed up for us, even when making it (in the a.m.) seemed impossible.
