oh my fucking god
phil ochs photographed by ron cobb with a close acquaintance in los angeles, 1967
i have been wondering this for a long while. it totally looks real but i also wonder if it may have been a very realistic movie prop that he or cobb managed to borrow, since several if not all of these were taken in hollywood.
only other things i can think of are an oddity market like you said or maybe he and/or cobb managed to get a university to hand it over LOL. there is a goth store near me that sells human bones including skulls, there's definitely still a market for it and it was probably less shocking back then when post-mortem photography had only been out of vogue for about 20 or 30 years. plus phil had some pretty morbid humor and did at least two comic photoshoots in cemeteries, both of which were also shot by ron cobb
i don't think phil owned the skull since i haven't seen it outside of this one shoot. cobb was a visual artist so perhaps he used it as a ref?
mystery of #myskull semi-resolved? (robin love is ron cobb's widow)
not seeing a lot of people on here talking about ICE murdering another man yesterday. His name was Lorenzo Salgado Arajou. He was a Mexican man living in Houston Texas. He was killed at age 52 and lived the past 35 years here in the USA, and was in the process of obtaining a work permit. He was shot and killed during a traffic stop that ICE claims was part of a targeted operation, and claimed he was “weaponizing his vehicle”- the same claim ICE agents made when they shot and murdered Renee Good.
During the stop, Lorenzo had 3 coworkers with him in his truck who have all been taken into ICE custody.
His family described Lorenzo as a hardworking family man who didn’t deserve to be killed. All he wanted was to provide for his wife and see his sons become great people. His eldest son recognized his father by his cries and pleas when trying to identify who the victim was.
The Salgado Araujo family has set up a gofundme to help with funeral and legal costs, and to help keep their family supported since Lorenzo was the sole provider.
On the morning of July 7, 2026, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was ta… LULAC Institute, Inc. needs your support for In Loving Memory of Lorenzo Salg
What is your middle name?
The name of one of my parents
The name of a relative or ancestor
The name of a friend of a parent
My mother's maiden name
A religious figure's name
Just a name my parents liked
Other
I don't have a middle name
I'm Option #1: My middle name is my mom's name. But I'd like to know if that practice is very common or not.

This is the Second time I've been about 20k words into a White Collar fic before realizing I've read the whole thing before. This can't keep happening
ao3 tag system my beloved, but I love this period when people were cross-posting from LiveJournal or moving over from LiveJournal. So the tags are just Super Barebones. Title and ship and Maybe a character or two. You are so lucky if there's even an additional tag. My favorite is when there's an 'AU' tag but absolutely no description of what that AU is.
knuckle tattoos that say PHIL OCHS
Ya’ll might wanna grow some hyperaccumulators (such as sunflowers, oyster mushrooms, mustard greens, vetiver, etc) around your house and/or in your garden for a few years before you plant leafy vegetables so you don’t end up consuming heavy metals.
If you’re uncertain, most state universities have soil testing labs that offer cheap, easily understood soil tests that can tell you for sure whether you’ve got lead, arsenic, etc. in your soils.
searching for “university extension soil test [your state]” will probably turn up helpful info!
This is a good thing to note, (also sunflowers are very pretty and easy to grow when you’re first learnign how to garden) but also searching “(nearest university) Extension” and “(your county) Extension” is GREAT because there’s ALL KINDS of cool services out there if you want to get into growing your own food or helping the local enviornment or installing solar panels on your house or buying livestock or- There’s a lot, it’s AWESOME, it’s usually stunningly low-cost and it’s veyr, very solarpunk so I encourage all of you to take a gander at the programs offered.
The Cooperative Extension System is run in each state by the state’s land grant university/ies (which might not be the ones you think, in NY it’s Cornell rather than any of the SUNYs): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooperative_State_Research,_Education,_and_Extension_Service#Cooperative_Extension_System It’s also where all 4H programs are based!
Some also offer classes! They’re taxpayer funded, so that means the wealthy ones can offer tons of resources. If you can’t find much going on in your state, nearby states may also have excellent info that can apply to your area. Some of the famous heavyweights are Cornell / New York and UC Davis / California, tons of research, plant breeding programs, and all around useful info coming outta those places.
As a botanist I’m contractually obligated to add this any time I see posts about phytoremediation–if you do this you CANNOT let the sunflowers/msuhrooms/etc decompose back into your garden. You cannot add them to your compost pile. That just puts the heavy metals right back into your soil!!!! You need to bag them up and dispose of them elsewhere–traditional landfill waste is probably going to be easiest for most people.
These plants ACCUMULATE metals. They do NOT break them down. You’re pulling them up from the ground and storing them in the plant tissue, so, don’t consume or compost that tissue afterwards.
everyone say thank you babyface for thnks fr th mmrs by fall out boy.

His middle name is George???? That's so unfortunate
For a guy that wears suits all the time, I love that Neal's "doing crime" outfit is just a black leather jacket over a black shirt. Do you Want to look like you're doing crime??
