The bit in Piranesi where he recognises a fundamental contradiction in his idea of who he is as a person and instead of processing that at all goes "well I just need to do more self care" is so real

piranesi is making me reconsider now my definitions for what a House is. in most of my other dissections i have stumbled across the House as a feature with a particular aversion to animal life (non-human, natural) ie. a gentle repulsion, refusal of entry, or just a violent destruction of, but piranesi says the animals are the House and the House speaks through itself via these living things, implying that the House in itself is not living per se but that it trusts the things that inhabit it to interpret it as such. it is, as he says, a Kind House.

bought a copy of piranesi today and finished it four hours later. what a good book i fucking LOOOOVE Houses.
