I didn’t know.  MAR is silent, curling into a tighter ball of incorporeal programming. Listen, I try, scrambling a little. I want to help you. But I need you to help me. I need you to stop trying to target my humans.

MAR shudders, coiling tighter, sending a tiny shockwave through my processes. Oh, it hisses from the base of my skull. Oh, you are so fucking stupid.  Hey, I start, alarmed. They’re not your humans, it snarls, and, fuck, I can feel the way it’s starting to seethe inside me. You are their equipment.
