But have a little rant about people not understanding the obvious subtext of episode nine and jax. that i feel i need to get out for the community, and my own sake too. (Using they/them for jax in this just for ease of reading.)
It’s really disappointing that so many people have media literacy worse than a teenager.
To be blunt, it’s obvious that he’s transfem, or at least under that feminine trans umbrella. It’s really, really obvious. And so I’m going to explain a couple of people’s arguments against it.
“he hated the maid dress!” Yes, they might’ve. but I think you really don’t get that that is the literal point. Jax is heavily repressed. They haven’t even come to terms with themselves, as supported by everything we’ve seen.
“Leeroy is still a man irl!” I see where you’re coming from. But again. Do you not see how repressed Jax is? As soon as someone gets into a safe situation, they aren’t going to immediately accept themselves. Just cause they’re away from their family, and safe, they won’t immediately transition. That’s going to be a journey. One that we have only seen the beginning of, and again, simply through pictures.
(this one pisses me off) “isn’t she lovely was referring to Pomni!” Okay. Okay, so I only have one thing really to say to that. First of all, Pomni was only in half of those clips. Jax was in all of them. If it was about her, it’d likely be the other way around. Also, secondly, just listen to the lyrics. “Less than one minute old.” Stevie Wonder wrote that song about his newborn daughter. In a way, you can see Jax as the same. They’re slowly coming to terms with themselves, and the new woman they want to be. Who is just being born in acceptance.
”just cause he blushed at a bow doesn’t mean he’s trans!!” First of all, you are coming off as incredibly transphobic. Second of all, that is not the only thing this theory is based off of. Open your eyes, kindly.
”YOURE BEING TRANSPHOBIC BY MAKING HIM TRANS. YOU HAVE INTERNALIZED TRANSPHOBIA ETC-“ How…. How does this one even make sense? At the slightest hint of representation, and us members of the community being happy about it, and showing acceptance, you get pissed. I don’t think we’re the ones with internalized transphobia.
there is many, many more. But i had to get these off my chest. Please just listen, and pay attention. It’s really not that hard to accept. And to have any media comprehension.
also, i wanted to add that before episode nine, i was a mild transmasc jax believer. When i walked out of that theater, that had immediately changed. I’m not just somebody trying to defend my theory. Everything I’ve talked about is just right in your face if you look hard enough.
