Here’s a guide on how I did it!

Disclaimer before we start: This was just my personal way I did it, if there’s anything you disagree with, or want to do differently then feel free. I cannot guarantee this will work for everyone, again just happened to work out for me.

I wont be going over how to mod your 3DS, you should have a modded 3DS already if you want to do this. Here’s a good place to start with modding your 3DS.

1. You’re gonna want to have an injector, the most recommend one I found was NSUI however I didn’t know about it at the time and used one specifically for GBA games instead.

2. Time to grab the GBA ROM, the website I found that worked the best was https://cdromance.com/gba-roms/mother-3-english-patched-jpn/ (wouldn’t let me paste link sorry ;;). It includes other options such as English + HQ sound, Spanish, French, and Japanese so feel free to check them out. (The English ones are pre patched so you wont need patch them with the English translation)

3. Once the download is finished you will need to open your injector application to begin converting to a cia. When you open the Mother 3 GBA file it should auto fill to ROM size: 32MB and Save type: FLASH.

4. The next steps are mostly customization (name and box cover). You’ll be able to see a preview of how it will look on your 3DS home screen.

5. I didn’t bother messing with the VC parameters and instead went onto the last step. If you don’t already have your 3DS SD card connected to your computer you’ll need to put the cia in your SD card’s cia folder. Put your SD card back into your 3DS and now you’re ready to download the cia with FBI.

This process should also work with any other GBA ROMS, enjoy! :D
