i keep having a few hours where im minding my business then it hits me again. like. pages and pages of posts made by people breaking down the racism inflicted onto the characters that they recognize as the racism that it is either because they've felt it firsthand or because they've witnessed it before. then pages and pages of posts made by people who figured out what happened behind the scenes to lead to such egregious racism on the page. all of it painting a picture of white supremacy infesting the entire production. none of it leading to a productive conversation, not because people "discoursing" are being "irrational" (not the case even a little bit) but because anyone pointing it out is getting dismissed altogether. this isn't just any dumb little show that got marginally worse. this was always a production using a well-known vampire premise to talk about race and racial violence. it was always political and it was always trying to say something. and it's still saying something, except now the fucking white supremacists are hogging the megaphone because by definition this is what they do. anyway do you remember when ben daniels looked the camera in the eye and said "you are all... complicit"? does anyone remember that? because i do
