Brief rant. I sometimes work on my knitting projects over the lunch hour at work. Multiple times I have had someone come up and say to me something like ‘You’re so talented! I tried knitting once but wasn’t good at it so it so I stopped’ and I smile and take the compliment but every time I want want to shake them and say ‘No. This is not talent. It’s two decades and millions of stitches of practice. Do you expect to sit at a piano for the first time an sight read a sonata? Become fluent in a language after one lesson? Then why do you think knitting is any different?’
